A great electric razor, just what I wanted.
Very impressed. Not as close as a traditional wet shave but for a quick tidy up it’s perfect. Great battery life, easy clean under the tap. I wet shave one day and the next electric now, seems a good routine. Recommended for sure.

Easy to use, no close shave
I've had an old Philips 1000 electric shaver for years, and I was looking for something with the same convenience, but with a closer shave. The 5000 is easy to use, a single charge lasts a long time, but I probably won't use it as an everyday shaver, as by mid afternoon some stubble is reappearing. It certainly works better for a wet shave, but by the time I've prepared for all that I may as well get a disposable out.On paper, the spec should beat older models, but on chin, I'm not sure this is the case. It will be great for a weekend away, holidays etc, but I'll alternate it with disposables when at home. Good value if a small price tag.

That was a close shave.
I keep leaving the shavers in hotels and friends homes. I now have 5 that I am aware of. This one does give the closest shave. Removes all facial hair and easy to clean. Good battery life and fits nicely in its carry case. Goid functionality with the pivoting head. Best one so far.

Comfortable, smooth shave
Gives a great shave and leaves your skin where it should be unlike some other brands.

Budget shaver
Nice shaver , but Philips do not supply the cover to protect or a cleaning brush . They must be trying to save money

A quick and easy to use shaver
I haven't used what used to be known as a Philishave rotary shaver since the seventies and relied on wet shaving daily. What an improvement this Philips S5000 series shaver is on past products. The shaver is a nice design, and has an ergonomically shaped sturdy handle, with a small integrated screen to show battery level and cleaning reminder, along with charging status. Being battery powered, and therefore wire free, makes it easy to handle and pack for a holiday. It has enough power when in use and cuts through my beard growth well. It is easy to charge, with a reasonably short charging time, 5 minutes for a quick turnaround or 1 hour for longer use. In the months I have had it I have only had to charge it twice, but I do alternate it with a wet razor. I found it light but firm in the hand and gives a reasonably close smooth shave, but not as close as a wet shave obviously. It will shave a couple of days growth with no problem. It is straightforward to clean, just pop the head open and run under a tap. The shaver head carrier is a light plastic tray and may fall out if shaken hard. It is just as easy to pop back in, it has a metal hinge. It is also easy to press the on/off switch with a thumb in use, but just press it again and away you go. I would have liked a proper carrying pouch instead of a cheap foam cover. My only real gripe is that I found the sideburn trimmer is not very good, and you have to change the head to use it, as it is not integrated. I went against my usual habits and actually read the owners manual, which had one or two handy tips which may make a difference in how you use it. I had to supply a two pin plug adapter for the charging lead and there is no protective cover for the head supplied. Overall, I am pleased with it and will continue to use it.

Smooth shave.
In my opinion, rotary shavers are the best and Philips have been developing them for decades.
