Excellent, low-cost WiFi hotspots that work great with major providers!
My area has many lower- and low-cost T-Mobile resellers whose SIM cards work perfectly with this unit. So cheap you can even hack one for an embedded project (which we have done!). Excellent, inexpensive WiFi hotspot solution.

Needs a coordinating so-fi plan
T-Mobile told me to get this - it would solve my hot-spot speed and connectivity problems. (I could put my T-mobile phone SIM card in this and use it as a hot-spot. My T-mobile locked phone giving me massive headaches, I wanted to use an old phone for its display. ) This device goes with a separate wi-fi plan and requires a different SIM card. This seems to be designed for specific uses. A handful (6? 10? ) users can connect to it as a hot-spot - using up that part of your data/speed. At home, one would just use a regular wi-fi. I guess if you're out and in a group this would save your phone processing and battery. It did turn on and light up. Not sure how it actually works. Looked new in spite of being refurbished.

Speedy little device
Purchased this device to run with GoogleFi. I work remotely and wanted to have a backup for times the internet goes out. “Above ground lines and oak trees are not friends”This things keeps up with my work needs. Not perfect there’s a small delay but what would be expected at this speed. I’m impressed and it meets the intended needs.Side note to use this with Google Fi you will need a android phone that is supported by Google Fi service to activate the SIM card. Once activated you simply pop the SIM card into this device and your all good to go. I’m addition to the Google Fi service you can pause this and activate when you need it to save monthly costs for those who find it helpful to budget.

Way better than I thought!
I bought this after reading past Amazon reviews of how people used this with Google Fi, and after buying this then getting the data only SIM and setting everything up, it worked perfectly. I was super happy to see how well the performance was and would get up to 20 MBPS in some areas and imagine I would get speeds if I was in the right area. I’m definitely glad I read the past reviews for this and saw that people used it with Google Fi. It works perfectly and have had no problems with setting any of the setup as well as the quality of the device being that it’s renewed.

Refurbished?????
Price was right and I needed to replace a failed T-Mobile Hotspot. I have purchased refurbished products for many years so I don't have issues with refurbished products if they are just that.In this case I charged the device and put in my T-Mobile SIM card. You came up, showed LTE full bars on the tiny LCD. Looked for the WiFi SSID on both 2.4 and 5Ghz band nothing. Plugged the unit into my laptop with a USB cable. Successfully got to the web configuration page. Everything looked fine, one unusual thing I notices is that there was also no WiFi Icon on the web page. I noticed that the device had both WiFi and USB modes (tethering). Successfully accessed the internet using the tethering mode via wired USB. No WiFi "radio" on/off option on the web GUI. Called T-Mobile Tech Support, transferred to HotSpot support. After about two hours of troubleshooting they said they believe it was a hardware failure. I contacted Franklin the manufacturer via email describing in detail the issue (same as this writeup) they also indicated likely hardware failure. So much for refurbished, returned to Amazon for refund after an initial attempt and trying to have me deal with the seller which i thought was Amazon. Argued and got RMA and label to ship back at no charge. Shame really would have been a good deal had it worked.

Hotspot worked out very nicely
Item is marked new and I got it with out a SIM so I just ran over to the T-Mobile store and got one. They configured it for me for $10 and I put it on a cheap prepaid plan. Very fast data no problems. This was a great alternative rather than paying $90 for the same unit at the phone store. It was all very smooth and quick, no problems.

Don't buy, don't waste your money
It is small, it is powerful. But it won't work across carrier. It claims to work with ATT but even after I unlocked it it still won't read the ATT sim card.It is only 20 dollars, but I could spend this budget on something better. It is just not worth the risk at all.
