Greg LeMond: Yellow Jersey Racer

Top Notch Book!!
My wife bought me this book for my birthday. I have to say - an excellent book! Nice quality and a thick solid construction. Heavy and worth the price. That is just the physical quality. Now the actual content... even better. Loaded with interviews and write-ups from all sorts of x-pros to soigneurs. Among those are very talented and well respected people like Robert Millar, Andy Hampsten and Sean Kelly to name a few. Loads of pictures I've never seen except maybe in 'Winning' magazine back in the 80s and early 90s... but a lot I have not seen before. I never thought of Greg as anything but a humble man and he acted that way on and off the bike. My hero for many years as a cyclist. I never had any doubt about his convictions and his passion for the pure cycling spirit - which to me also means he was to my mind - not a doper either. I just feel in my gut that he is an honest and hard working professional - and a very likable man all the while too. Popular among many of his peers and tons of victories from pure talent and strength. All vouched for by the greats too. He will always be a favorite of mine.

Just received this wonderful new book about a legend
Just received this wonderful new book about a legend. No one was more dedicated to his sport than this gentleman. In the end, after all of his trials with Armstrong, he rose from the ashes, revived his fitness brand, and commands more respect than that other cheater, liar, and embarrassment of the cycling community. I have great respect for LeMond whom I credit my love for the sport to. This beautiful, hard bound book sits on the coffee table with rare photographs of LeMond's early racing days as a teen, the classics, world championships and, of course, all his tour wins. I had never seen many of these. The accompanying stories from his recollection, by his loved ones, teammates, and competitors adds to the admiration of the man. The US has yet to produce another great cycling champion like LeMond whose remarkable feats are only more impressive considering he never took performance enhancing drugs.

Great book.
Great photos. Greg Lemond was truly a unique talent. One photo made me wonder about use of "recovery agents." On page 62 can see what appear to be recent puncture marks in Rt antecubital fossa.I think if you are professional the option to supplement should be available as long as you are not super physiologic and it would make things safer. Get it out of the closet. To make the long tours entertaining the fans want super human performances.

Wonderful photo essay of a cycling legend
This book is an outstanding photo album spanning LeMond's career. The book is organized year by year with race and personal photos interspersed with memories from Greg, his teammates and family and friends. It's not a detailed race by race or moment by moment biography, but more of a coffee table photo book with enough info a personal insight to be very nice. Great book about a great racer and a wonderful value for its price.

Brilliant stories, interviews and pictures
This is one of the most enjoyable cycling books I have ever read. Beautiful pictures!!! Each year in LeMond's career was written by one of his peers. What a spectacular way to tell a story. I found myself energized with every turn of the page as I remembered the riders and races that caused me to fall in love with cycling over 30 years ago.

Amazing photography and stories even for long time fans.
I've been a LeMond fan since the 1980s and I loved this book. Great stories from Sean Kelly, Ron Kiefel, Andy Hampsten, and others. Amazing photography as well. I didn't realize that this was like a coffee table book, full size with high quality paper and printing. Just beautiful.

Great Book
Great book. I've been waiting for a high quality large format coffee table book on Greg LeMond. He is arguably one of the all time greats of cycling in so far as his natural talent. His wins were fewer in quantity than other great champions but the quality of his victories is of the highest caliber.

Incredible photos and inside information
This is a beautiful coffee table book, full of amazing photos, many I had never seen before. The text can be a challenge though...much of it is almost verbatim transcripts of interviews with various people, and it can be disjointed and confusing if you don't already know the context and background. In other words, it's a book that will appeal more to hard-core fans. Five stars though, even just for the incredible photos.
