Keeps my face warm in negative digit wind chills!
I live in NY and bicycle from Brooklyn to midtown NYC to work most days. I have an Under Armour balaclava (or ninja mask as my kids call it) which keeps my head and neck warm but it was very restrictive to my breathing when over my nose and mouth. Couple this with a feeling of claustrophobia due to the compression fit of the mask and you can imagine how uncomfortable it was. Needless to say, I kept my face exposed all of the time. When it got down into the low teens outside I decided that I needed some extra protection for my face.I ordered the Seirus Innovation mask figuring that the open nose and "perforated" mouth would help. I have to say, I am VERY pleased with how this mask performs. When the temp hit the low teens, the wind chill was 1 degree according to the weatherman. With me hitting an average of about 15 mph on the bike ride, the wind chill was actually -9 degrees! This mask kept me toasty for the 50 minute ride to work.In addition, the fit is great. I ride with the balaclava as well as a set of Aftershox headphones which go behind the head. I initially tried the Large but it was very tight so I went for the XL. The mask fits perfectly. When I ride I am able to breath freely through the nose and don't have that claustrophobic feeling anymore. One thing you should know, if you wear glasses you MUST breath out of your mouth when riding. I wear glasses and, when exhaling through the nose, it causes my glasses to fog up. This is not unique to this mask as the same thing happens with the balaclava. Just something those of us with less than perfect vision have to deal with.Overall, I think this is a great buy for anyone who bikes, motorcycles or does any winter sports and wants the extra face protection.

Cold Weather Biking
I'm very happy with this mask! I use it for my hour-long bike commute whenever the temperature is near or below freezing, and there are several things that make it a fantastic piece of gear.1. The nasal opening and holes at the mouth keep you breathing fresh air. I have a real "thing" about the excessive breath recycling you get inside a regular neck gaiter, but this mask never gives me that feeling.2. However, that fresh air is sufficiently warmed not to shock your system. I am asthmatic and hitting the cold air for a hard ride first thing in the morning is a sure-fire trigger. This mask makes a world of difference.3. Face warmth! Kept me toasty warm at 25 degrees F in gusty wind. At higher temps I sometimes use it to get started and then take it off mid-ride.About fit: I am a woman with a larger-than-average head size ( I wear the Giro "venti" helmet) and I ordered a Large. The mask only just fastens behind my head, but the fit is right when it does. Any larger would have been too big in the chin.

warm, but not comfortable for everyone, durability issues
I'm giving this 4 stars because it's the only face mask that my husband likes and is comfortable with. The shaped and cut-out form of this mask is what my husband really likes about it - - - the nose part protrudes so your nose doesn't feel smashed, and there are lots of tiny air holes cut into the mouth area. The mouth/chin area is also sewn in a curved shape which allows the mask to tuck under your chin without having to be pulled uncomfortably tight.* * Suggestion : unless it's for a child, order an x-large. The velcro allows you to tighten it easily if necessary.I'm not giving it 5 stars for two reasons :1) Although the neoprene material is backed with a low pile fleece/flannel I personally prefer a softer fleece fabric against my face.2) This is the 4th mask we've purchased because the mask tears at the nose and mouth areas. The mouth perforations and seams around the nose always tend to rip and tear after a couple seasons of use.I will admit that hubby isn't the most gentle of creatures when putting on/taking off the mask, but I can't put all the blame on him.He uses this mask while snowboarding - - - usually while it's snowing. He will typically secure it initially with the velcro tabs at the back, then just pull it up/down by grasping the nose/mouth sections. He is handling this mask while wearing gloves, and often the mask itself is frozen/crusted over with snow/ice. Given these conditions, I guess it's understandable that the mask would tear in these perforated areas, so my one star deduction is more to just give notice that this will probably happen, rather than criticize the product. If you're just planning on using this mask while doing outdoor winter chores, then you probably won't have these durability issues. As far as warmth, comfort and satisfaction go, hubby keeps wanting me to buy the exact same replacement.

Great solution to minimize fogging.
Tested at -20 F. I wore this in combination with a balaclava + hat and it worked perfectly. I could breath through it through the small perforations in the material.

Great for running.
It keeps my face warm, but not too warm. It keeps the air I'm breathing warmer when mouth breathing during a run. It keeps my nose warmer, so even when nose breathing the air is a bit warmer. When I was in my teens (50s now), I did not run in the winter because it was difficult breathing the cold air. This thing is a game changer and allows me to run in the winter. It washes up really nicely using bar soap, gathering a lather on my hands and then rubbing my hands on both sides of the mask, and then rinsing. I gently squeeze it, and then air dry it.It keeps me comfortable at 30-40 degrees F. I have not had occasion to try it at cooler temperatures.

Perfect
I was looking for a half face breathable mask for work because of a medical condition that causes me to have pain when exposed to cold. This has been a lifesaver(facesaver) at work and outside living in Michigan. It is lightweight, comfortable, I even wear glasses and they do not fog up.
