Cancer! Explaining Cancer to Kids - What Is It? - Children's Disease Books

This book was very helpful when explaining to my daughter about her Papa's recent cancer diagnosis.

Wasn't a lot of writing but what was explained was so good. Easy for my child to understand without to detailed wording which he wouldn't understand.

I was looking for a book that explains cancer to children to help them cope with a diagnosis. This is very blunt with scary pictures talking about death from the start. not very happy.

This book is not what I thought it would be. It is filled with stock photos of cells and doctors. It basically explains cancer in a very basic clinical way and in a manner where kids should know what cancer is to begin with. If you are looking for a book that explains cancer in a way where kids will understand, this is not the book.

We got a refund from Amazon for this book - it was SO bad. Very clinical explanations, some of which are even inaccurate (e.g., chemo kills the bad cells and doesn't kill the good cells). Many close-up pictures of scary-looking cells that would scare the socks off of most kids of parents with cancer. The book even has blatant typos and looks like it was thrown together quickly. We wanted something that would help explain Mommy's cancer to our 4 year old girl. This is NOT it. Do not buy.
