Nikon Nikkor Z Mc 50Mm F/2.8 Macro Mount/Fx Format Lens, Black, 20103

Given the long history of disappointments I've had with many previous Nikon lens purchases, I was ready to be disappointed when the lens arrived. However, for the very first time the performance of a Nikon lens exceeded even my most optimistic expectations. In a few words, this lens is the best I've seen so far among Nikon lenses for the following reasons:1) Extremely sharp lens: I own many nikon lenses including the older 50mm f/1.4 D but I have never seen so much sharpness out of a Nikon lens before2) Very natural colors: It is very common for Nikon lenses to mess up with the colors giving an unusually warm (over expression of red and yellow) representation. This is probably the first Nikon lens in my experience that is true to the colors (reminds me of the neutral color balance in Olympus cameras)Putting these 2 things together and I can say that this the best 50mm Nikon lens available out there3) Macro capability is a very beautiful bonusPoints to consider:1) the focus is not the fastest and it may take more time to focus compared to other Nikon lenses. That said, the focus is razor sharp once done.2) this is a 50mm lens and you have no option to Zoom in or out. That's why it may not be very useful for general purpose street photography.I also own the Z 28mm F2.8 which looks similar but thinner. The 28mm lens is not very sharp. I never understood how can Nikon do such a great job with the 50mm and do so miserably with the 28mm.Also, I initially wanted to buy the Z 50mm F1.8S and that sells for around the same price. Using the online samples from multiple websites, I was discouraged because the lens didn't show a good sharpness in the available online samples and I was not ready for another Nikon disappointment. However, I have not tried that lens myself.In conclusion, this is the sharpest Nikon lens that I have owned and has the most true to life colors. This lens makes my Z6 worth using after I abandoned it for a while. This kind of lens makes you carry a camera with a big smile on your face and use it instead of using themore practical mobile phone camera. If sharpness and color neutrality are high on your list, then this is the best Nikon lens in my experience that truly delivers.

The beauty of this lens is infinite. I was sceptical of my new Nikon camera because I couldn't get the images I was looking for. Images like my old DSLR could produce. Then I bought this lens and the world opened up and changed my photography forever. Gorgeous photos. Gorgeous photos I have never producrd in the past. Perfect sharpness, color, focal range and a certain element I can't adequately describe. It's like magic.

It’s a good lens but the more expensive 105mm macro is better. That one also gives you a bit more working distance for macro work.

I hike some every day and I use the macro features of this lens almost exclusively! Great bang for the buck
