Love the Sound..Odd Issues with Big Body and Small Bore
I got this to use on a Cannonball Big Bell with ZZ Jazz 3.5. The sound is exactly what I wanted for quiet accompaniment with a choir using a mic. The 5* with a slightly harder reed is perfect for me.The downside is that the bore is small, and I had to sand down the cork on one of my two necks and dedicate it to this MP, because my other pieces now fall all the way down the cork. I have a JodyJazz HR, a Vanduren V5, and a Selmer C*. All of them are 13.7mm ID at the opening. The Otto is 13.4mm. That's enough to make a big difference and make you re-cork or dedicate a neck. The wall at the opening is thicker than the JodyJazz, so I don't see why they had to make the bore small unless they don't want you trying other pieces after you get it to fit. The other pieces don't seal now until almost 1/2 tone sharp. Now my curved neck is just for the Otto. Also the ligature had low edges near the threads so be careful with it. It will gouge the top surface. I chucked it. A Rovner dark will fit with the top screw bar touching the top because the body is ~1mm larger than the other pieces in my case. I would rather see OL leave out the lig and spend the money on re-engineering the bore to be closer to standard.

Being a professional saxophonist I would not normally buy a mouthpiece on amazon but the idea of getting one delivered to my door quickly with free shipping was a no brainer in this instance. This mouthpiece is not amazing and will not provide u with the flexibility (not literally) of a more quality piece. However if you are just starting out on the instrument it's great. For the price you really can't beat it but I would advise getting a less restrictive ligature.

Excellent mouthpiece. Quality issues are discussed.
I needed a mouthpiece for a vintage soprano saxophone. I found a great price on a like-new mouthpiece.ConstructionThe mouthpiece cover is flimsy and thin. The fit is adequate but it is not to the level of a mid-level saxophone mouthpiece. The ligature is also adequate. It also feels flimsy in construction. The fit was tight with a reed interposed onto the mouthpiece but lockup was tight. It did not affect the alignment of the reed to the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece that I received was well constructed. It has smooth edges. No imperfections along the body, head or tail. The fit of the reed onto the mouthpiece is perfect.Overall, I am pleased with the mouthpiece. It is my opinion, that they cut corners for the mouthpiece and the ligature. I will likely upgrade the ligature and mouthpiece at a later date.

That strong, versatile time you've been looking for.
I bought a used Musica soprano from a local indie store. I liked it, but the tone was a bit pinched and nasal. But the OLR-401 helped me open it up beautifully, giving it an assertive but not aggressive tone perfect for jazz and some rock playing. I love it. Very happy with the purchase.

smooth sailing
I replacecd a stock selmer mouthpiece with this. I get better lows and middle register reponse. It is more full bodied. However, the high notes still require tight mouth adjustment and are still hard to reach say above high c.

The mouthpiece is fine.
The generic ligature sent is too small for this mouthpiece.
