Very fun!
This is such a fun little detector! I used it for hours at the beach with my snorkel. It's basically a pinpointer, it doesn't tell you what type of metal or how deep it is, just that there is metal underneath the machine. Pair this with an easy sand scoop and you've got hours of fun searching the beach and sand.

Does not work past 15 feet...
It says 100 feet fully waterproof. It is actually only 15 feet. Unsure, I bought this because it specifically stated 100 feet, I thought it would give me more than just 15 feet of usable space...

The MD-790 - It works and it is waterproof
We took a trip to Isla Mujeres, and the hotel we stayed at has an awesome beach with waist deep water running out 150 yards off of shore. I bought this in hopes that A) my son would have hours and hours of fun with it, and B) that we might find something cool. In the end, after hours of searching, I found an old twist tie from a loaf of bread or something.. For the review part.Pro's:* It Works and was used maybe 10-12 times between my son and myself over the course of 2 weeks.* Takes a standard 9 volt battery, with a screw off end cap* It comes with a little wrist lanyard (put it on, I wish I would of), and a small velour like bag.* It held up better than I thought it would, and if we could of used scuba gear, we would of been able to search area.Con's:* The handle is just too short, and the angle of the handle to the detector is to small (guessing 10° - 20°). Due to the low angle, the hand that is holding the detector needs to be almost all the way to ground. Due to this, if you are snorkeling, you can't be in water deeper that your arm's length.* When you encounter something and the detector goes off, if you are sweeping to fast you might miss the notification while being submerged. It would be great if the detector would beep louder (or a volume control), and the vibration stronger. We did not take it scuba diving, even though it's rated to 100ft / 30m. I think if we would have taken it scuba diving, it would of been more enjoyable. On the other side of that coin, most dive masters would probably prefer you not sitting in one area for the entire dive, especially if there are other customers with you.In the end, it does what it claims. While we did not take it deep, it's construction is basically the same as all my dive lights that have gone that deep or deeper. I would I recommend it, yes, I believe I would.

Great fun!! Thank you☺️
I took this metal detector, snorkeling, five different days for an hour at a time or more each time. I’m still on the same battery 19 V battery it turns on and off exactly as explained. I left mine on the whole time that I was in the water didn’t find any diamond rings or Spanish coins ha! However, I did find metal objects it’s kind of astounding when you think about the square footage hundreds of thousands of square feet of sand on the bottom of the ocean the chances of you running into even a bottle cap difficult to calculate…. It was a lot of fun felt like we were on a treasure hunt and the nice part about it is while you’re snorkeling you’re looking for shells and you’re looking at fish and you’re looking at your beautiful surroundings. You don’t have to pay attention to the metal detector. You just let that sweep back-and-forth… you don’t need to watch it because when it vibrates it wakes you up and let’s you know that it just hit on something and so you don’t have to miss the beauty while you’re sweeping hoping that the metal detector finds some thing. pretty perfect!! I think it’s very well-made. It seems tough and sturdy. I actually used it sort of like a spoon to pop something up out of the sand and let some children on the beach play with it and they found some bottle caps and felt good about cleaning up the beach 🙂very nice. Thank you so much.

Definitely detects metal
I do work recovering lost items in the water. It detects any metal so it could be a beer tab or a diamond ring ver sensitive. The quality is great and has never leaked. You can definitely hear and feel the vibration underwater.

can only be returned with QR code! Says "kids" and adults. Its more of a toy.
I don't want to rate 1-star and hurt anyone's business. It's more of a toy and not an actual metal detector. Also, before submerging it, watch a couple youtube channels. The creators will tell you that you need to waterproof the battery housing first. If you don't, it will leak. Two examples were a glue gun and plumbers tape. Secondly, to test it, you should place typical items underneath it like beer tabs, nails, or other small metal items to see if it even beeps. My experience was that it beeped at the ring on my hand above it. Maybe my ring is heavier so it gravitates toward that instead of something smaller but still. The range underneath was not as promised. In essence, it doesn't work at at this price, whether it's a kid's toy or not, it should. I do consider that I got a lemon. Sometimes that happens. I already got something different or I'd try a replacement.RETURN BY QR CODE ONLY- I wish amazon would include this in the description or flag it at checkout.Only a UPS store can take QR codes. We only have a ups drop off point in my town. A UPS store is 52 miles away. So if you don't drive- you're out of luck. They can't even generate a UPS pick up even though UPS trucks are all over the place. I suspect this is because labeled returns go to a warehouse but this product gets so many returns (apparently) that it's forced to go directly back to the seller - that only uses QR codes. Amazon will not be able to generate a label. Not an option.Hope you find this helpful.Happy hunting.
