It is lightweight because all the metal on it is thin and the wood is low density. The workmanship is excellent. The steel is high quality and very tough. Even though the blade is thinner than most typical pocket knives, it is very stiff. I have no complaints regarding the sharpness or durability either. The locking tab is tiny for my large thumb, but it is big enough that I can find it in the dark and close the knife with no problem. I went a little haywire finding signature folding blades from different countries and this definitely deserves to be a blade that Portugal should be proud of.
