I bought them to hold tabletops down and allow for wood expansion and contraction. They seem to work really good they hold really sturdy with the provided screws. We were even able to lift the table by just holding the top and carry it to its location with no issues or movement or loosening. Nice and sturdy. Just what you need for your project

Clips great / screws junk
As the title says, the clips are great and work exactly as they should. Just don't even worry about the screws, they must be made out of Chinesium or some similarly weak metal. Just buy some good screws separately and you're good to go.

z clips with screws
Z clips work fine. I used a biscuit joiner on # 10 setting and 1/2 in down. The screw provided worked fine as well. I used an awl and phillips screw driver. No problem, however I was screwing into pine. Can't say if the screws would be OK for hardwood.
