Erythritol. Here's Wikipedias info: Erythritol is a sugar alcohol (or polyol) that has been approved for use as a food additive in the United States1 and throughout much of the world. It was discovered in 1848 by British chemist John Stenhouse.2 It occurs naturally in some fruits and fermented foods.3 At the industrial level, it is produced from glucose by fermentation with a yeast, Moniliella pollinis.1 It is 60-70% as sweet as table sugar yet it is almost noncaloric, does not affect blood sugar, does not cause tooth decay, and is partially absorbed by the body, excreted in urine and feces. It is less likely to cause gastric side effects than other sugar alcohols because of its unique digestion pathway. Under U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) labeling requirements, it has a caloric value of 0.2 kilocalories per gram (95% less than sugar and other carbohydrates), though nutritional labeling varies from country to country. Some countries, such as Japan and the United States, label it as zero-calorie, while European Union regulations currently label it and all other sugar alcohols at 0.24 kcal/g.

Does Monin use erythritol or sucralose to sweeten the sugar free vanilla syrup?

It uses both. Erythritol is the second ingredient (after water) and sucralose is the 5th (after erythritol, natural & artificial flavors, and cellulose gum).

What is the sweetener used for the Vanilla sugar-free product? I am looking for stevia or xylitol. . . not artificial ones.

splenda is the sweetener. If you want stevia, you want Monin's Zero Calorie syrup. It has monkfruit and stevia, not splenda

Is this keto friendly?

Don't know about keto friendly but my mother is a diabetic and using this in a milkshake in summer does not raise her glucose level. Hope that helps.

Sugar free mocktails are made possible with this

It hits the sweet spot of non alcoholic, no sugar, and adds flavor to beverages. Super versatile and tastes good. I used it to save a grotesquely sour non alcoholic wine into a kind of sangria and this brought in just enough sweetness to balance it.

Great for coffee

Strong vanilla flavor with no calories. I love this syrup. It is sweet and has a well rounded, creamy, true vanilla taste. Chick-fil-a uses this brand of syrup in their iced coffees, particularly this French Vanilla one but with sugar.

Great tasting product, zero carbs, but read the ingredient list

Product arrived quickly.This syrup tastes great in my coffee, and a little goes a long way.I bought the French Vanilla sugar free syrup to save on my coffee addiction, and have a backup when the store is out of my vanilla coffee.I generally mix a naturally flavored vanilla roast with an unflavored medium roast when i brew my coffee, then i flavor it with a packet of Truvia and some cream. Now I skip the Truvia, because the syrup is quite sweet.I try to follow a Ketogenic diet, and got excited when I saw the erythritol in the ingredient list.But I acted a bit fast, because the second to the last ingredient is Sucralose, and I try to stay away from it and Aspartame. I didn't notice it until my bottle arrived.Regardless, I plan to use up the entire bottle, and it still tastes great and contains zero carbs.

It’s not for me

Hello I was really hoping this was going to be a good alternative to my Starbucks caramel syrup! I was so disappointed and it has such a strong weird after taste. It’s not me for me. I got it after reading all these great reviews but in the end we all have different taste buds and this wasn’t for me. I would rather take a normal caramel syrup in less quantity than ruining my coffee taste.
