THE Ultimate in Simple, Rugged, Portable, Survival Water Carrier
Since I am the founder of Ultimate Survival Tips (search for us on Google) I get to see about every cool innovation in survival gear imaginable. And one thing's for sure, if you are in a WCS (worst case scenario) crisis you are going to need water within hours, or at the least a day or two, to survive. But the problem is, how to carry and store water until you need it. Since traditional water carriers are big and bulky, and heck, besides my wife and I, I don't know anyone who carried a large capacity water bottle or carrier EVERYWHERE the go most people have a real problem on their hands if all of a sudden they are stuck with no means to transport or carry water. So the WhirlPack 1 Liter stand up bags are a perfect EDC (every day carry) for every bug out bag, survival and emergency kit. This particular pack comes with 3- 1 liter (about a quart) bags. So with 3 of these, you can carry and store about enough water to keep you alive for a day even in arid climates. The unique thing about these bags is that the bottom flattens out and there is a heavy duty closure system at the top... similar but more useful than the wire closure systems on coffee bags. With the bottom flattened out and the wire closure opened and formed into an oval you can pour water directly into these without them falling over like standard bags. Because of the wire top, you can also easily scoop water from a stream, pond or lake or set the bag up to catch droplets or run off while you go and do other things. And because the bages are over 60% clear (with about 1/3 of the bag having a white mark-able area to write on) you can set these puppies out in full sun for a day or two and let the UV rays of the sun solarize and thus kill a good lot of the nasties in the water reducing your chance of getting sick from drinking untreated water. I carry at least one of these bags in every survival kit I own or have built. I highly recommend that you do to. ~David

Weighs almost nothing, stands up to fill, roll the top over 3 or 4 times and the water all stays in. Great to have!
Better than a ziplock sandwich bag, makes a great component for a water purification setup. Hint, take a whirl bag (one of these things), a couple of small Acco binder clips and some coffee filters, throw in a handful of Aquatabs and a Frontier Filter or Sawyer Mini, and you're good to go. Use one bag to prefilter water through the coffee filters (Acco binders hold the filter in the open end of the bag); once you have that done, drop in 1/2 or 1 Aquatab, wait 30 minutes, then transfer the water to a water bottle or Sawyer bag and drink through the filter. Yeah, the tabs should kill everything, but I still use the filter straw - I've had dysentery once, and don't intend to get it again.

Ability to carry day's worth of water but packs down to almost nothing
These are very handy for hiking. The threaded cap fits into a Lifestraw and is much easier to squeeze through the filter straw than trying to use a plastic bottle. You can roll several of these up empty and take up almost zero space in your pack, and won't get in the way until you decide to make a water run and fill them. They come with carabiners to hang from your pack but honestly I have not used them like that for long so not sure how long that feature lasts. Since we use these both to collect dirty water and to carry filtered water we have to be careful not to mix the usage. I would give it 5 stars if there was a good place to write on it or make a label or mark to help with keeping track of which one was dirty and which was clean. Aside from that, these are nearly ideal for my use.

Useful water bags for emergencies or camping.
Useful water bags for emergencies or camping. When full, they stand up on their own.

Great water pouches.
These are a lot more durable than I expected. They definitely hold a full liter of water each and the twist ties are pretty strong. I was able to fold them all flat enough to fit all three into one Altoids tin. Another good investment for survival kits.

great addition to the kit
Great addition to the hiking kit. Lots of water storage that takes almost zero space when not in use. Ideal for the collection of water that needs to be purified later.

Good piece of kit to supplement a survival kit.
3 out of 5 stars due to not being able to use it yet, but no doubt it will supplement a survival kit well. Good value for the price.
