Heart of the Raven Prince: A Cinderella Retelling (Entangled with Fae)

Wonderful little dopamine hits
A good fairytale re-telling that doesn’t lean too hard on the existing stories, but takes liberties that still suit the overall feel of the original tales. Faerwyvae is the setting for several of this author’s series, and it’s well fleshed out in each novel, enough that you aren’t required to read any of the previous books to understand the courts and magic. Odette is a solid writer and I’d honestly recommend any of her books.

Cute story. Easy read.
Interesting take on cinderella. I enjoyed the book and plan on reading more of this series. Not a huge page turner but a nice easy bedtime read.

This is the best book I’ve read in a while.
I rarely give out 5 stars and a review, and this is one that deserves 10 stars. It has been a long time since I found a book that I accidentally stayed up until 3:30am (on a work night) because I couldn’t put it down. I loved everything about it. I loved the slow burn, the depth in Franco, and the twist on the Cinderella story. I’ve read other Cinderella retellings, but this one outshines them all.Read it. You won’t be disappointed. This is definitely making the re-read list.

Not Bad, but Boring
I didn't dislike this book and I felt the writing was well done, but I kept waiting for it to get exciting. I didn't feel connected to either main characters and I didn't like that it ended with some loose ends, though I assume Maisie's story continues in the Little Mermaid retelling. I can see why some people really enjoyed this but to me, it felt more juvenile than I expected it to.

This series got me back into reading
I was taking a week long road trip and decided it would be a good call to get a book, so I landed on the beauty and the beast retelling, I figured it's a good story and I love a good romance so why not. Well... I read that book in a week and heartbroken as if Elliot just dumped me, I decided to choose another.Cinderella has never been my favorite fairytale but ember was in the other so i fought my instincts to go for snow white and got this one and I absolutely loved it! I finished it in nearly 3 days!! I actually liked it more than the other because it has a bit more world building and suspense. It will keep you turning the pages. I actually really found myself loving ember and although I'm not one for the "playboy" male love interest typically, Franco ended up stealing my heart. Their witty banter had me grinning ear to ear at times! I absolutely adored this book, when I was younger I read a lot, but as an adult, life gets busy and other things take priority, but I just can't get enough of this world and their stories! Just a delightful, happily ever after read that addresses some pretty heavy and dark problems in the real world, causing you to reflect inwardly on things. I can't wait to get another and I'm sure I'll blow through that one as well!If you find yourself unsure about dipping your toes into this magical world, give it a shot. I'm so happy I did! There's lovely world building and the characters will make you fall in love, and still, the romance takes center stage, at times you just want to smack them for not listening to their heart, but that just fuels you to want to keep reading! I give this my full 5 stars, I honestly would give it more if I could and I will be rereading them with just as much enthusiasm!

Cute, romantasy story with a touch of Cinderella
This was a really cute, romance and it did have some Cinderella-like elements to it. It was a bit tropey with the whole Fae girl makes a bad bargain thing, which I've seen done in SO many Fae stories, but it still had a decent story. The writing was pretty good which always makes me give more stars in reviews. I'd give the story itself about 3 stars, but put in the extra star for good writing because honestly, there's quite a few poorly written books out there these days, especially in the Fantasy Romance genre. But yeah, overall it was a decent read and paid a nice little homage to Cinderella.

Cute Cinderella Retelling with Fae and Little Excess Drama
Firstly, I’ll start off saying that I don’t usually write reviews for the novels I read, whether I enjoy them or not. But, there was something about this novel that made me want to express the love I developed for it.I read a lot of upper YA/NA romance and one of my biggest peeves is the amount of drama that tends to come along with them, que the blown out of proportion misunderstandings and the breakdown of communication between the characters, almost always tidied up not long after, rendering it all pretty much pointless. I’m not a huge fan of drama (there’s enough of that in the real world) and often times find myself skimming through these parts of novels, trying to keep my groans and eye rolls to a bare minimum. That brings me to The Heart of the Raven Prince. Before anything, let me just say - Thank you Tessonja Odette!! This novel is pretty much everything that I could ask for. There were all the usual moments of dread when I thought I was about to plow into some overly dramatic moment, but then they never came. Instead, these leads were actually logical most of the damn time! I love it. Plus - I’m a sucker for this soft hearted prince with wings.I won’t go into detail on the plot, most other reviewers have done a great job on that and it is what it says, a Cinderella retelling. My attempt at a review here is in hope that others with preferences similar to mine don’t pass up on this story (or the others in this series). My only caution is that the novel is a little slow to start. So, if you’re looking for something that jumps right into the romance, be prepared to ease into this one. Each of the novels in this series are the same way, but I came to enjoy it quickly, appreciating the time with the characters before they’re thrown together.Heart of the Raven Prince benefits greatly from including Franco’s point of view, imo (he’s so dreamy) and I found I actually preferred his narrative to Ember’s. But, both characters wormed their way into my heart - they’re so pure! I suffered several times from cuteness overload. And yes, the steamy scenes are mild, but in a classic romantic way. Call it love making, if you will. This novel, along with the rest of the Entangled with Fae series, is set in a world already established in a previous series. You do not need to read that series first, in fact I did not, nor must you read the other books in this series to understand any part of this novel. Each standalone, so far, does give you a sneak peak into a character you will meet in the newest novel and allows you to catch up with characters from the past novel which I enjoyed quite a bit.So, if you’re like me and like a fairly quick standalone read that’s nice and tidy, full of cute moments with a pair of adorable leads, (not to mention well written), this is the book for you.Since finishing Ember and Franco’s story, I have also read Curse of the Wolf King and Maisie’s story, Kiss of the Selkie. And while ‘Heart of the Raven Prince’ is, hands down, my favorite book of the series, Maisie is my favorite female lead. So if you haven’t read her story, I highly encourage it.Definitely looking forward to A Taste of Poison!

Cinderella Reimagined
Tessonja Odette again took an idea of a classic fairy tale and gave it a fresh, modern take, complexity of the characters and the depth of emotions that are explored. This is what I love in Tessonja’s fairy tale retellings so much! The main characters are again relatable and their growth throughout the story is satisfying to see. Their love story unfolded sweet and heartwarming.

Loved it!
5⭐️ This was amazing! I loved both Franco and Ember🥰 The whole fantasy aspect of this book was very unique, haven’t read anything like this before. Really enjoyed the Cinderella retelling in this! The writing was great and easy to read, it also had dual-pov! There was a bit of spice, but it wasn’t very explicit.

Amazing
I think I loved this even more than the first book in the series, and that's saying something because Beauty and the Beast is my favourite fairy tale. I loved the characters -they were complex and well rounded and lovable. And I absolutely loved the story. Yet again, could not put it down!

Great sequel but also can be a standalone
What I liked: the storyline, fae bargains and the slow-burn romance. What I didn't like: the stepfamily and the guy from the human church (you know villains are well-written when you hate them lmao).Tropes: romantasy (romance and fantasy mashed), YA and fairytale retellings.Favourite characters: Franco, Ember and Nyxia. Franco is my fave out of all due to his vulnerability, and willingness to change and do better.Notable scenes: any time Ember bit back at her stepfamily, getting to know more of Franco, the bargains, Ember discovering the truth and seeing Gemma again.Feelings I felt: angry, sad, happy, joyful, suspenseful and worried.I enjoyed Ember's story, loved her sharp wit and getting to boss around her stepsisters. The bargain pain was a nice touch, added more complexity to the story. I liked her slowly and unknowingly falling in love with Franco.Franco is a great character, showcasing growth and I liked how crowds made him anxious. His backstory was interesting too.I hated the stepfamily and the human guy from the church. Only Clara has redeeming qualities and they all got what they deserved. Although, the stepmother deserved a harsher punishment. It was great to see Gemma again, with an update.I was also happy to see more of Nyxia, who was introduced briefly in the previous book and who is Franco's sister. Seeing her made me want to read the other series where she is MC in one of the books. Will be continuing with the current series after a break/reading other books in between.
