Pulse-width Modulated DC-DC Power Converters: Solutions Manual

Not too bad
I have a large library of books on switching power supply design. Usually text books like this are just about useless to people who design power supplies for a living. But this book actually has some practical equations in it that power supply designers can actually use. This is a useful addition to your power supply design library.

excellent dc-dc converter book!
Marian provides in-depth view of all dc-dc converter topologies. You should DEFINETLY know your electronic basics however, before engaging into this book. This book is perfect for anyone who has knowledge of basic electronics and a vague knowledge of power supplies. Marian covers all topologies and includes in-depth graphs, schematics/circuits. Marian goes over IGBTs, mosfets, and PWM switching circuits and feedback loops. EVen though this is a beefy book, half of it is technical math/derivatives etc...i just skip that stuff, as i'm no engineer. but the non-math parts are very comprehensive. Soft-switching is covered later on as well as voltage and current control loops. however, no PWM IC example was covered, which was kinda dissappointing...not a big deal though, since this subject was basically covered during the feedback loop section in a component-level scope. voltage and current graphs on a pulse by pulse time base are covered per topology as well.On a side note, i think the Abraham I. Pressman/Billings 3rd edition complements this book nicely, for a different view/less math approach...

One of the best book covering DC-DC converters
I think this book one of the best covering DC-DC converters. It is useful for teaching and learning. All the non-isolated and isolated DC-DC typologies are very well explained. Additionally, there is a control approach easy to understand.

Very good Book for understanding the detailed dynamics of converters
Very good Book for understanding the detailed dynamics, and under the hood of converters.I learned a lot from it. Explanations are clear and easy to follow, very math intense.

too much math, too little explanation
Good: Description of how the concept applies to boost, buck, and other circuits, but this is all too brief.Bad: Book goes way overboard with excessive math that is tangentally or completely unrelated to the subjects and impeeds understanding of the subject.

Couldn't understand a word of it.
All maths - not what I expected.
