Mr. Church

Story was quaint, emotional and grew on you in an amazing way. By the end, the Brooks and Church family was your family, too! Eddie Murphy did a fantastic job.In today's movies of action, sex and other frivolous stimulus, "Mr. Church" is a cool, gentle breeze of substance and meaning. My thanks to the writers, producers and director for a movie that was like a fine mellow wine.

Not an Eddie Murphy fan, never have been but this movie is a must see with the understanding it "Will" make you cry... Every Time. Wow.

This movie touched my heart so I purchased it for a gift. It came shrink wrapped and ready to give.

Love this movie. I’ve seen it before and loved it so much I had to buy it.

Not what you expect from Eddie Murphy but in a good way

My wife loved it and watches over and over.

In my opinion this is Mr. Murphys best movie. It's not hard hitting or action packed but it's a great movie about a loving relationship.

This movie at least will be nominated for 3 Academy Awards next year. It was made by Bruce Beresford who made <Driving Miss Daisy><Double Jeopardy><Tender Mercies> Two times Academy Award Winner already. Based on an amazing true story comes Eddie Merphy-Brit Robertson combies great performance will make you cry, joy of friendship make you feel so good make you able to sleep so well at night. If you think of movies like <Driving Miss Daisy><Fried Green Thomatoes> this might be similar to tha category.[...] Also don't get it wrong. It has nothing to do with church or god. It's just Eddie's charactor name. It is the life time friendship of Eddie Murphie and Britt Robertson that changes both's life. Eddie, a cook and a Jazz piano player who happens to one day just appears in Britt's house (when she was about 14) where she and her sick mother live. Her mother at that time was about to die with cancer. The doctor said she will not live more then 6 months. But miraculously she lived about 6 years or so and happens to see her daughter go to college. And Eddie stays there for that long. He was truely a good man. And a mysterious figure too. Someone hired him and told him that if you complete the mission for 6 months, I will compensate you. It happens that he ends up with stay in Britt's side till he dies. It became a true friendship. A life long one. When she eventually goes to college with Eddie saving money from using coupons that her mother gave him and got pregnant from this unknown guy and by that time her mother was already gone, there was only one place on earth to come by which was Eddie's place and she came just that. He agrees to let her stay but in one condition. Don't disturb him or ask questions about him. In fact he was playing Jazz piano in some bar. It was not even a secret but for him it was a big privacy. When he finally got sick and it got worse and the last day came, Britt tells him that I don't want to disturb you so I should leave you alone, he said, I want to be disturbed, the next day he couldn't open his eyes. That next morning Britt figures out that for him she and her mother were the only true friend to him too just like her and her mother. He kept their photoes in his room, the letters he wrote is all about Britt and her mother. Britt and her daughet for sure will remember him forever. A life time friendship and for some ways a father figure that is never exist to her. Eddie did an acting of his life time. He will earn a best acting award from Oscar for the first time if the Oscar member can erase his previous image of him. He Jazz scores from the movie is so lovable and all the music lovers will enjoy them with all their heart. It will earn the music award as well. Another Oscar winning will be Best Director. Bruce already won before and he will again will be.He just got out from a winter sleep, a long one. Great sentiment truly shows how no matter how long you know a person you never ready know them. Great acting by all the cast.
