Great for chemical sensitivity
The liquid and bar unscented soaps are a lifesaver! I am sensitive to smells and had to search for a new face soap when they started changing formulas in Dove unscented sensitive soap and the Clinique mild face bar soap. I found this brand on the Branch Basics website and it’s great! Has a slight smell but it’s from the ingredients and not a chemical smell. I don’t react to this soap (chemical smells can cause puffy lips/ face). I use the bar soap for my face and hands. My hands do not feel dried out after using the bar soap and it feels very moisturizing. I saw the laundry soap use on the box and by chance rubbed it on some clothes mailed from a department store that had a perfume smell that was not washing out with vinegar, baking soda, or Borax. I washed the clothes with my unscented Tide and vinegar and it worked! So now I use the liquid for washing perfume department store smells out of clothes by adding a couple capfuls to unscented Tide with Borax (maybe has something to do with the oils binding the fragrance but I’m not 100 percent sure). I hope they don’t ever have to change the formula. This is worth the price and a great company and great product!

Better quality than a similar - and more expensive - brand.
Oh, wow. I just love this versatile Carolina peppermint castile soap!I have sensitive skin and am always on the hunt for hand soaps that won’t make my skin break out. When visiting my sister (who has 3 kids and understandably burns through a lot of hand soap with all the constant handwashing), I noticed that she had a big jug of another similar castile soap of another brand, and she was always refilling her dish wand and soap dispensers with it. I loved it, but was a little off-put by the price of it when I looked it up on Amazon. Somehow, I stumbled on this brand, which was a little more economical. I’m glad I did!First off, this feels like a thin liquid and almost like water, but a tiny bit goes a long way with this one. I was putting this in normal soap dispensers, and was shocked at how much luxurious lather I got from one little squirt. The first squirt, I was worried about how it felt (so watery) until it lathered immediately. Rinsing this off my hands, they feel refreshed with the slightest of tingles. When I checked the back of this very large jug, it gives you instructions for making this into a foaming soap, too - which will make this stretch even further. The peppermint scent is amazing, and this cleans amazingly well while still leaving your hands feel soft. My husband has a “dirty” job and often comes home with grease, mud, and other junk on his hands. He used this once and was stunned. “Wow, what is IN this stuff? It’s amazing!” he said. It cleaned his hands thoroughly in one or two pumps (something that normally would take 3-4 times as much to get his hands clean).I absolutely am obsessed and in love with all mint scents - peppermint, spearmint, whatever...and likewise for taste as well. This soap satisfies my love for all things mint. :) I look forward to washing my hands each and every time.Overall, this is just a fantastic and amazing soap that I feel is BETTER than another well-known, more expensive name brand that also sells peppermint castile soap. It lathers better, smells better, and you can’t beat the better savings for what you’re getting. I can wash my hands in this all day long with no issues whatsoever, which is quite a feat as normal hand soaps break my hands out after only 1-2 washes. I love - LOVE - love this soap! I would give it 10 stars if I could!

Good stuff
Of course, you want to know how it compares to the long-time mainstay. Compared to good old Dr. B, it's...different. But very nice. Both are high-quality, organic soaps. Soap is a very personal thing, so keep that in mind. You're basically comparing a coconut/palm oil soap (Dr. B) with an olive/coconut soap (Carolina). My hope was that the Carolina Castile Soap would be less drying to skin, making it comfortable for shaving and shampoo. I can say that for these uses, Carolina Castile Soap delivers.Compared to ordinary shampoo, for me, olive castile feels a little "gummy" going on. I ignore that - it's because it isn't sucking the oil out of my hair. When it dries, my hair feels good, clean, and my scalp remains comfortable for days. Very good for a general-purpose soap! Less need for expensive specialty organic shampoos. For shaving, I find it excellent. Dr. B works well as a shave soap, too, but the Carolina is easier on my skin. Wet shaving is a super-individual thing. My preference is for fast-and-easy, and castile soaps are great for this. A dollop of soap in my palm, roll the damp brush in it, then build the lather on my face. A little sudsy, not Santa Claus. Some say this stuff is harsh if you get it in your eyes. That's probably true, so don't do that! It's castile soap, not baby shampoo! I've used both the lavender and the peppermint versions, and they both feel great and give an excellent shave. Is it delicate enough for your nether regions? Well, that depends a lot on your local water, and your regions. I find it gentler than Dr. B, but our water is hard...real hard. By the time it reaches the tap, our water's done a couple of years in juvy, and is lookin' at time for Grand Theft Auto. So, dependin', you might want to keep your beauty bar around for that sort of thing.Smell is a very personal thing, so YMMV. I like the Carolina scents. Different from Dr. B, but good. The olive oil in the base affects things, a little. Coconut/palm is probably a wee bit more neutral, but we're not talkin' pasta, here. I buy this as soap, not perfume, so I'll trade a few flowers for happier skin. All in all, the Carolina Castile Soap company is producing some very nice stuff. Worth checking out. A little competition in the castile soap market isn't a bad thing. Dr. B still makes great products (including toothpaste and detergent) and is always fun to read, in that VW microbus kinda way. But Carolina is the real deal, too, and worthy of a place on your shelf.

Five Stars
Unscented, clean, gentle soap, made in USA. I tried this one because the price of Dr B’s keeps going up. I was pleasantly impressed, as this brand is more moisturizing and leaves my skin softer and works well as a shampoo. I also use it to hand-wash my dishes, pans and pots, as it doesn’t leave a toxic chemical residue.
