Capri Tools Professional 1/8 in. Letter Stamp Set, 27-Piece

These letter stamps worked well on 12L14 steel. This is a mild steel but steel no the less. The impressions left on the steel were clear and sharp, and not much metal moved to the sides. The only reasons for the 4 stars instead of 5 is the numbers are slightly larger than 1/8". I was uncertain as to weather I should get the 1/8" or 3/16", I am glad that I chose the smaller of the two. Good product, obvious quality.

I like how crisp and solid these are. Reminds me of old ones you see in museums, not that sort of bubbled cheap steel in some sets I've seen. I practiced on some scrap wood first and the key is to use a small hammer and hit two or three times lightly. I tested carpenter's hammer, hard to control. A few taps with one of those hammers meant for hanging pictures was best. You need to hit it enough to make the impression but not enough to ram the whole thing into the material, which makes a circle around it. I'm using them to make simulated antique telephone parts as replacements for ones that are too far gone. They're just right for making terminal codes in the wood and then filling them with white shoe polish wax to look just like the originals. But I can think of lots of things I might try with these now. Also to share, I have no past experience with these yet I figured it out quickly on one piece of scrap wood.

very high quality feel, and love the indicator's, cheaper versions lack marking's on the side which makes orientation difficult. This product nails all the details. A+

I bought these to stamp codes onto brass keys and they work great. The stamps are well made, came with a light coating of oil to prevent rust, and are squarely cut. They fit my HPC SA-7 alignment tool perfectly -- something that I was really hoping for. I used a light tap with a 3 lb hammer to do test stamping and each letter was clear and perfectly formed. I wasn't sure how these would pan out, but figured I'd try them before spending $60-$80 on a set of HPC or Young Bros. stamps. I'm glad I did; I have no need to purchase a more expensive set as these fit my needs.

Could not get these stamps to work at all. I tried them on a bunch of different metals and none of them showed up. Case is also super cheap and does not open and close easily.Update: I just did not have the right tools. This is a really great set!

I have a BUNCH of Young Bros sets. While these aren't as good as their hand cut stamps, for the price they are serviceable and usable. The price is right and you can see where it was heat treated.

I paid for the most critical feature for me, given my vision issues. That is the so-called Smart ID Stamp. The orientation is only engraved correctly on a few letters. None - not one! - of the numbers has the engraving in the appropriate place as advertised. If you need an easy way to to find the right stamp and the right orientation this is not the set to buy. Extremely disappointing with the advertising - you are paying for something that is flawed and this merchant must know these are defectively engraved. Not worth the money. I feel cheated.

I had some softer ones that would not mark steel very well. These work quite well on steel. Marks are easy to see.

It's been over a year, I still love this set, what I love the most is the marking in front of the punch that helps me to position the punches properly.The quality is way above average, non of the punches have a dent or a nick or any sort of damage on them but of course I try not to abuse any of my tools.
