Rifton Messenger Bag

I've been using this bag for about a week and it's almost perfect. My only complaint is that the shoulder strap is bit too wide and a bit too flimsy. The strap is just under 2 inches inches wide and I'd like it to be about 1 inch wide. It slips off my shoulder so I wear it cross-body, which is very comfortable. The width of the strap combined with it's flimsiness (just a double layer of the bag fabric, I think) allows it to twist in the hardware attaching it to the body of the bag. Not a huge deal, but one of those minor annoyances we could all do without.I like the design of the bag itself. The pockets are more than adequate for my needs (I don't carry much). My Nook completely fits in the back pocket; there's plenty of space inside the main compartment for my stuff (hand lotion, extra phone battery, checkbook, small stuff bag); the front zip pouch holds my phone, pen, notepad, and comb, and there's still room everywhere for a bit more if I need it.I think I will get used to the strap issue and not even notice it, but that's the only negative I can find about the bag.Is the quest for the perfect bag ever completed??

I am very DISAPPOINTED in this bag. I've owned several AmeriBag products and this is the only one I have ever returned. The design of the bag interior has all of the cool organizational pockets I have come to love. Unfortunately, the exterior of the bag including the strap is a flimsy nylon fabric. The strap on my old bags are nylon webbing and they have NEVER bunched, twisted, or rolled. Not so on this bag, just adjusting the strap I had to untwist the strap several times as it bunched as I was lengthening it. The bag is lightweight, if it were couple more ounces and made from higher quality fabric and a nylon webbing strap I would have kept this bag.

I've owned several AmeriBag products and this is the only one I have ever returned. It has all the typical genius Ameribag features and fantastic quality of construction, but two things baffle me. 1) the side pockets: what are they for? They're too small for eyeglasses or phones, too big for anything like lip balm, and the purse already has pen holders inside. 2) the strap: no matter how you adjust it, it bunches up on one side and gets in the way of accessing either the back slip pocket or the top flap; the strap material is flimsy (Ameribag straps are usually super-tough and reinforced); and the strap length is not long enough (and I'm 5'2")

I like the messenger bag however I thought I t would be larger than it is. I'm adjusting to its smaller size.The straps are comfortable resting on my shoulders and that was one of the primary reasons I wanted the bag. I also like the bag because it distributes the weight of the contents in a way that make it better for my body to carry the contents. I'm still sold on the way I can organize my things in the bag- that's a big plus for me. Over all, the bag is a good purchase and ergonomically sound for those people who care about the way the bag interacts with your shoulders.

I bought bag about 6 years ago along with the AmeriBag New Yorker at a local store. I loved them both so a couple years later I went back to by some replacements. The bags were still in good shape but when I find something I like a like to buy a replacement before I need it. Much to my disappointment the bag was no longer available. I have looked for these bags for years and was so excited when I found them on Amazon. I like this bag even better than the first one that I purchased because my first one was in an ugly orange color ( the usefulness of the bag outweighed the ugly color so I bought it anyway) but this bag is a nice shade of chocolate brown and is just perfect for when I do not need to carry everything that I own. It has lots of compartments, ( many are zippered) for good organization. I love this bag and would recommend it for anyone who wants a small easy to use bag.
