This deserves 6 stars!!
Ok, I don’t understand the hate to this mic or the poor rating!!! I’m a senior sound designer, a singer, composer, instrumentalist and been recording and producing music since the 90s! I’ve recorded at Studio La Fabrique in France where they had many vintage U47 mics and other priceless pieces! I know how good mics sound! This is an awesome microphone! If you have a dynamic voice, it’ll capture it! Shout and it’ll sound smooth and sweet with incredible responsiveness! Whisper, and it’ll respond to the nuances! A great microphone won’t make a bad singer sounding good! This is a great mic, reasonably priced and it’s a keeper! I was confused about the authenticity as the price was lower here, but no it’s a genuine Neumann TLM49!

A classic, smooth microphone
Not sure why the reviews are so low on here but this mic is officially my favorite. I have a U87 and a TLM103 but to me this mic just sounds more full, natural, and ready to mix. Came with the shock mount too by the way if you’re wondering.

TLM 49 Microphone
The shape of the frequency response is set up for a studio project that has limited quality EQ systems, with a low bass response of -6 db at 20hz, 0 cross over at 1 K and a peak at 5K, and and a lower response top end with a peak at around 12K. The mic is great for a basic set up and works well and is resonably quiet. Per the published frequency response, it seems a bit weak in the top end for my male voice when I tried to add some "air" with my Voxbox at +8K as this is where the top end dip is. It did not sound bad, just not "awesome." Maybe perfect for a woman's voice with perhaps some auto de-essing due to the dip at 8K. Also may be an advantage if you are getting some top end digital distortion, as this would minimize it. Overall response was helped by using a Rycote fuzzy filter rather than the traditional metal or nylon pop filter. As I also use it for audio book narration and work with other narrators, I decided to keep the mic. I use it for remote and onsite voice overs, podcasts, commercials, promotions and interviews.

Outstanding!
The microphone is definitely made for voice.... And I expected no less from this Neumann as any other I have heard over the years. Has a smooth mid range with a clear bottom and a presence in the 5K range that is just right without being to "bright" and harsh.Well done!
