It was nice that this set came with a drill bit that was the correct size for the screws you get with it. It was pretty much: install the lock knob, mark and drill the holes in the file cabinet (8 total), then line up and screw the lock into the cabinet. If you're not planning on having the bottom of the lock bar touch the floor, you'll want to put something under it to secure it while you're marking the hinge holes on the file cabinet. The only minor gripe I have with it is that the four hinges don't exactly line up with the line of the file cabinet. It was plenty enough to secure the lock, but basically on the top and bottom hinges, they line up with the opening of the file cabinet door, while the two middle hinges end up a bit away. I may have been able to manipulate it a little to get them to line up, but it still looks ok and the drawers still lock securely so for me it wasn't even enough to knock a star out. This lock will work well to keep random people out of the drawers for sure, and would recommend for basic file cabinet security.
