WOW! This printer has been VERY impressive thus far *UPDATE*
My old printer broke (sooner than I would have liked) so I did A LOT of research before deciding to buy this Epson EcoTank printer for home office use. This is my honest review of it this far and I will definitely update my review if I run into any issues. So far, this printer has been pretty impressive (I've been using it for about a month). The price was pretty average for a printer... but I personally think all printers are overpriced so it was a bit more than I would have liked to spend. It is smaller and more lightweight than I was expecting which is a plus because it takes up less desk space than my previous HP printer. It is very easy to set up, comes with step-by-step easy instructions and guided instructions through the app. It only took me about 10 minutes (Mostly just waiting for the printer to initialize on its own). It is very easy and surprisingly satisfying to fill the ink tank. I like the idea that this ink might last longer than traditional cartridges and won't have as much plastic waste that went along with my old HP Inkjet. I have printed plain black and white documents as well as photos. I print all my photos at home, which is most of the printing that I do, so quality was important to me. The photos came out with pretty good quality! No ink smudges or off colors, colors are bright/vivid, and it is easy to modify what paper you're using with automatic prompts on the printer. Now for the negatives and the reason I'm giving this 4 stars... app to printer connection issues. This was a big issue with my old printer as well. I'm pretty tech savvy and I just have no idea why this is still always an issue for me. There is an extra Epson app that you are supposed to download for printing. Sometimes it can find my printer, sometimes it can't. Sometimes it gives me printer errors or won't let me print documents. And now every time I go to print something it says the paper being used doesn't match the paper settings so I have to bypass that error message (even though it does match in settings and the app, and this happens for both regular paper and photo paper). I've turned everything off and back on again, but the issues with consistent connection and error messages are still an issue. Usually with some fiddling around, I can get the documents/pictures to print but sometimes it feels like I'm jumping through unnecessary hoops. I'm still working out the kinks so if I find some magic solution I'll update my review. Considering this is an issue with most home printers I've used, it's not a deal breaker. All in all, if you are looking for a new home printer, I would definitely recommend this one. The quality has been great for me and I am pleased with my purchase (so far). Hope this helps! *UPDATE*: I have now printed HUNDREDS of photos, they are all excellent quality, and my ink tanks are still mostly full. This is WAY better than my HP printer as far as ink longevity. Changing my review to 5 stars just based on how long this ink lasts. User interface is still a tad annoying but so worth it regardless.

Fair amount of time to setup but worth it.
Had an Epson Workforce 840 and Windows 11 would not play nice with it. Last software update killed it completely. Guess it was planned obsolescence. Anyway...bought this ET-2803 and it works so far. Setup was convoluted but simple in a way. Wifi was a snap once I found I could not do it from my computer. Firmware update was the same, only on the printer control panel would it work. If you run into a snag, just check the screen on the printer. I had to do this three times to complete connecting to first computer. Second computer was much quicker since groundwork was already laid. I've only printed a test print on computer 1. Computer 2 would not print test page but it did print a screen capture fine. It took around an hour to load software, firmware and updates. Fast print is pretty washed out. Normal print is pretty good. I suppose the photo quality print would be the go-to for darker prints. Ink was a snap. I read of people having issues with it pouring out on printer. These ink bottles did not drip even after filling tanks. The Et-2803 weighs about 1/4th of my Workforce 840 and is much smaller. That is not an issue. As long as it works well, I'm happy. Let's print...

Easiest Setup Ever - Excellent Quality Hardware, Firmware and Output
This printer replaced a cheap HP (which is en route back to Amazon), which replaced an HP printer that committed suicide, which replaced an HP printer that was broken, and so on. The tech gods seemed to be telling me to try something else. A couple of issues (I'll get to those shortly), but overall the quality is excellent. I chose to set this up from an Android tablet. The Epson app recognized the printer immediately. (It uses GPS to locate the printer, which is quite clever. Then you just follow the prompts. It takes about 15 minutes to initialize the tanks and three minutes to initialize the WiFi. Other than those unattended spans, the whole thing is quite quick. The KDE desktop (Fedora) recognized the new printer almost instantly. With an HP, the search process always failed. I always had to use the secondary system, which requires entering the IP. With Linux, this installs with a driverless setup. Text and colors are clean and sharp. No bleeds. The first page prints immediately. My last HP Deskjet required several minutes to print the first page of any job. The only problem of any significance lies with the internal web server. There is no way to scan anything directly into the computer. I have to scan using the Android app on my tablet and then transfer the image to the computer. I will try to set up either an NFS or Samba share so that I can save scans directly to the computer. The other issue is unique ot me. I print checks from raw safety stock. This requires MICR (magnetic) ink, which is, apparently, not available. I'll figure something out. The bottom line is that this is a well-designed and built printer with superior printing at a reasonable price. The tank concept is new to me, but, presumably, the ink tanks last a great deal longer than cartridges. The downside, of course, is that, with cartridges, you obtain a new print head with every cartridge change. Time will tell if this becomes an issue.

My Epson printer is total junk!
I have had many printers over the years. I started with Canon dot matrix printers, and then ink jet printers. In the old days, and ink cartridge contained all the colors, so if red was out, you tossed away the rest of yellow and blue too. They were pricey and wasting ink wasn't something I was OK with. I would pull ink cartridges from dumpsters outside office supplies stores, take them home and draw the ink from them to fill my cartridges with. Then Epson came up with a cartridge for each color and black . That's when I switched to Epson and have used them ever since. I did have an HP in there when I got such a deal I couldn't pass it by, but after several years it died and I switched to Artisan printers. I still have an old 810 that is finicky and I don't want to have to coax it just to print a few pages. I got a WorkForce printer ,used it several times after I got it, and then it sat idle for 5 years or so. I moved recently and decided to set up the WorkForce printer. The new ink cartridges were practically new, but sat for 5 years maybe, so the nozzles and print head needed cleaning, I expected this. It uses mass amounts of ink to do this so then I was out of ink. I ordered new cartridges, and back to cleaning when they were inside. I never got anything to print, plus, the new paper I ordered was as glossy and slippery as photo paper, and the rollers couldn't grip it. I gave up and ordered this printer as a replacement. Setup went OK until I put paper in, then the rollers were slipping and I got jam messages, even though nothing was inside. I pulled the paper and let it finish the initial process. Then I put paper in when it wanted to align the print head. It fed paper OK for now, so I guess maybe I didn't get hosed on this Epson as I did buying the WorkForce Epson. UPDATE November 1st 2025 This is a frustrating printer!!!! I'm using WIFI network to connect the printer to my laptop computer. I like to be able to print or scan from anywhere in the house. If you purchase this frustrating Epson printer, you now have a ball and chain around your leg. You can't print a simple document without some kind of error code popping up and requiring that go look at the minuscule little screen and try to figure out what button you must press to get the document printed. If I have to be right next to the printer, I might as well use a wired connection. I am disabled and it's a real inconvenience for me to have to go to the printer and squint at the tiny screen to try to figure out why it's been ten minutes of my time and I still haven't gotten my 1 page document in my hand. High speed printing is not high speed when you can't get a printed page without having to make several trips back and forth to the printer. I set the default paper to the standard plain white letter paper, only to find it wants to scan to photo paper, so it just sits there like a block of cement and nothing gets done. I had an Epson Artisan 810 that I really liked, except for the automatic feeder quit working so you had to stand there and feed each sheet to be scanned by hand. I didn't want a sheet feeder on the printer because they break down and the you're feeding by hand anyway. I just hate printing anything at all now because of this printer. I wasted several hours one day trying to print documents that I downloaded and needed a physical copy to present in person for a project I'm doing. Normally I would send a PDF file, and let someone else bother printing if that was necessary. After years of purchasing Epson printers, this is absolutely the last Epson I have spent my money on. Never ever again. The first clue should have been when the quick start guide suggested using a smart phone to set up the printer. I'm not going to work from my 5 x 7 phone screen when I can instead use a 15 inch laptop screen, and keyboard. It's simply a stupid idea. Sorry, but no more Epson for me ever!!!!

Minimum deliverable build quality, but works for sublimation. Conditionally Recommended
I've had a number of Epson printers over the years, starting with a 9-pin FX dot-matrix, and ending with a Stylus Photo R3000. While I never expected to get back into low-end inkjet printers again, my wife's foray into sublimation printing brought me to the Epson EcoTank ET-2803. At first glance, you realize that the ET-2803 is an exercise in cost cutting taken to the extreme. For about $250 you get a paper handling mechanism, a print head, a flatbed scanner, an ink delivery system, wireless connectivity, a screen, and actual interface buttons. Oh, and it's all jammed in a cheap plastic box. Despite that, and the fact that the screen is the size of a postage stamp, the entire package works. It's hard to know longevity on something like this, but I'd imagine that it will survive long enough to go through a few maintenance tanks. What's a maintenance tank, you ask? More on that later... As far as the setup of the ET-2803 goes, there's very little to it. Unfurl the printer, load the ink, and let it go through the process of drawing the ink down the tubes - you're in business in less than 10 minutes. Things were a little different for me because I didn't load the OEM ink, and instead opted to put in Hippoo sublimation ink. I have seen the ET-2083's OEM ink performance on plain and glossy paper. It's fine, but not great. Printing is fast, but does not yield sharp text OR photo-realistic prints. This makes sense, as the ET-2803 has a cheap printhead, and the printer is only working with 3 colors (plus black). The driver is pretty barebones, not really allowing for much in terms of settings adjustment. While this may be good for the plug-and-play crowd, it really doesn't do you any favors when trying to dial in the quality of your printed output. I definitely have had some clogging issues with my printer, but acknowledge that is probably due to the 3rd-party ink that I've put in my printer, and not an inherent problem with the Epson. I mention it, though, because I have run through the various cleaning procedures on the printer's maintenance menu. The design of the printer incorporates a "last-resort" cleaning method, beyond normal head cleaning, that flushes all of the ink in the tubes into the maintenance box. That's a LOT of ink. I don't imagine most users will run a power clean, but it may be necessary if your printer sits unused for long periods. If you do run the power clean, plan to go through ink more quickly than expected, and expect to replace your maintenance tank within your printer's lifespan (fortunately, it's not difficult or expensive). My issues with the ET-2803 are likely self-inflicted through the use of sublimation ink. The ET-2803 is an OK sublimation printer, and is one of the least expensive ways to enter the hobby. As far as a general-use printer goes, the ET-2803 is a mixed bag. Consumables are much less expensive than cartridge-based inkjet printers, which is great. Print quality is usable, but not great. The main thing is that this printer makes sense in some use cases, but not in others. For example, if you print semi-regularly, occasionally scan, and sometimes need color printing, this is a good choice. If you want to dabble with sublimation printing, this is a entry-level choice. However, if you rarely print, you're probably better off with a b/w laser printer. Conditionally Recommended

Printer
Excellent printer. The print quality is very good and the EcoTank system saves a lot of money on ink. Easy to set up and works perfectly with Wi-Fi. Highly recommended for home or office use.

Worth it.
I’m an art teacher at a middle school. My school has had major budget issues this year (it’s my first year at this school and I’ve never seen such disorganization and financial instability in any school I’ve worked at), and I was originally the printer in my room would stay there until the end of contract ima year and a half. One month later it was removed. There is no color printer available and the closest printer is on the opposite side of the school. I decided to make an investment and try this printer, even though I didn’t really have the money. This was easily in my top two best purchases that are school related (tied with a specific electric pencil sharpener). The colors look good, the ink lasts so much longer than typical cartridges (I’ve never had a printer where I refill the ink myself. It’s very easy and again, the ink seems to last longer). I’ve printed over 300 colored pages and the ink levels are still more than halfway. It was easy to install, it works really well. I wish it was double sided but it’s easy to figure out how to print and get it the right way to make it double sided. This is a well worth investment for any teacher.

It easy just get it
It took me 10 minutes to set up, went through the app. The only problem I had was that my phone could not connect the printer to WiFi, for some reason it found every single WiFi in my apartment complex except mine. This was a simple fix, after the color integration I simply panned through the prompts on the printer LCD screen and connected to my WiFi through the printer easy peasy. The app is really cute and simple, and you can print directly from your phone. I was really anticipating the worst based on the reviews. Printer shopping can feel hopeless cause there’s an even mix of “best printer ever only buy this one” and “this printer tried to eat my dog”. I got great picture quality, I printed a photo from the internet that was full color and it didn’t even. Make a dent in any of my ink tanks. The printer paper was a little damp but the ink was dry. It took about 15-20 to print said photo, which compared to office printers is very slow, but for an at home printer I’d say it was the average speed. I haven’t tried using card stock yet but that’s the reason I bought it. This printer lets you print all sizes of paper, all types, and is easy to use. Just get it it’s easy.
