Hand Lettering by Megan Wells I have bought sooo many how-to books and for the first time I have one that has kept me involved. This book is both instructional and inspirational. I’m over half way through and I just keep coming back. Thank you Megan Wells for this book! I love it! Five stars for sure!

The book is good but not really what I expected when it said it was interactive. It basically just shows the letters and says draw them with no instruction at all.

Beautiful book with a focus on five different unique fonts, along with advise on styling, and design inspiration. The book is devised into four sections: Lettering Basics, Drawing Words, Adding Color and Detail, and Projects. I have a library of design books containing multiple books on hand lettering. This book is a nice balance of instruction and “workbook”, providing some of each. It has been a great addition to my collection, which I reference regularly for inspiration. A piece of advise to reviewers who are dissatisfied: You’re not going to find a single book that teaches you design or lettering. It is a learned skill that you must develop over time. A good reference book is going to be the author’s best portfolio examples, advise, and tips. In order to learn to produce creative work on a professional level it takes exposure to a variety of other people’s work which must be developed into your own style and practiced over years. This creative process is really what design is all about.

It can be a great gift for any writer, a teen, or an artist. I Loved it so much! I then ordered one as a gift. She loved it! Fun, easy and just great quality of a printed book. Love this publisher’s products! I’m a bit of a paper connoisseur and pauper press is pretty impressive. :)

The book is absolutely wonderful! The information is useful and cohesive, without being overwhelming. The book itself is very pretty and has a lot of great examples. There is a lot of room for practice. It has guided practice, suggestions for what to letter, and just some blank pages. It is a good size to carry around. It gives you a few basic alphabets to start with and shows you how to embellish and customize them to fit your own style. It really teaches you how to letter, instead of just making you copy already set alphabets. It even has some coloring pages to spark inspirations. It ends with some practical applications of the Lettering and crafty projects. I very well done workbook, and I definitely recommend it.

This was the first lettering book I bought. After 6 months, I feel like I finally know enough to say what I want in a review. First, this book is NOT about brush lettering in a script style. If you want to letter in a cursive/script style, look elsewhere. There are some reviewers who mentioned that she doesn’t cover pressure, but that falls into brush lettering. It’s very basic info on how to letter with pencils. It’s different than most other lettering books, and it is good at what it covers. All lettering is drawing letters, and this book doesn’t have much info on drawing technique. It does give you sample alphabets to copy to practice as you draw. It’s a workbook style with LOTS of practice pages. You will still need a notebook for practice, but it has more practice pages than any other lettering book I’ve purchased.

Glad to have this in my new hand lettering library. Absolutely love Ms. Wells' approach and attitude. The physical characteristics of the book are excellent: wire-bound, elasticized closure option, colorful cover (as to be expected). Honestly, not sure exactly what I was looking for in a hand lettering instruction book. I will know it when I find it. Overall not entirely disappointed for reasons stated above, vbut the book is not quite what I am needing at this beginning of my lettering hobby. I feel like the no riles, donehat you want to could have been established online or.voa a YT video. I kinda did not need to purchase the book for that. As an avod book reader and collector though I am grstefilntinadd it to my collection. Seems like that means it will grace my shelf doesn't it? Makrwellsmis helpful and a delight to encounter online. I am looking forward to taking a class from her. I think that money will.be well spent versus this book purchase. Perhaps after taking a class with her J will appreciate the book even more!

Il libro è meraviglioso sia a livello qualitativo che contenutistico. La copertina è rigida e le pagine sono di ottima qualità, ideali per esercitarsi. Anche a livello grafico è molto carino. I testi sono ovviamente in inglese, le indicazioni sono molto chiare e ricche di esempi ed esercizi. Come primo approccio all'hand lettering è uno dei testi più completi e belli. Consigliatissimo a chi inizia e vuole una guida completa e semplice.

Beautiful book and an incredible way to start to learn a large variety of styles of hand lettering and calligraphy

This book is perfect for people interested in learning about hand-lettering as a fun and relaxing hobby - particularly for mindful art and bullet-journaling. It teaches some flexible fonts and gives plenty of ideas about how to creatively make them your own. I bought this for my mom, and it is EXACTLY what I hoped! She is going to LOVE learning creative hand lettering with this! It’s such a great gift! It has great reference and photos for fun project ideas. It’s also beautiful! It’s made like a classic bullet-journal - hard cover with the elastic to hold it closed, complete with full colour photos and art! Although my mom will probably practice on her own paper, the book has a lot of blank pages for practice with helpful guidelines. I can’t wait to give it to her - she’s going to love it so much. What a great price for something so awesome!
