Measure Twice, create a template, and remove wood carefully!
I have to say up front that I am an electronics tech and hobbyist luthier, although it has no directions, installing this preamp/pickup was very easy for me.Just make sure you measure the two components and create templates to use for cutting the holes in the ukelele. Cut the holes slightly smaller than the templates and then enlarge them slowly until the two components slide in.The best way to install the pickup sensor is to slowly remove material from the bridge so that the sensor fits flush with where the bottom edge of saddle sit normally in the bridge. Then unit takes a CR2032 battery, and will only use it if you turn on the tuner or plug a cable into the Ukulele.

I can't believe it works
There was no manual on what size I needed to get for each component to fit and with room to assemble the 4 screws for each one. I'm mechanically inclined to be able to draw and cut out diagrams on paper and tape it to where you want on your Ukulele and draw around the cutouts on your Ukulele. Place tape around your diagrams to prevent splinters or chipping, depending on the kind of wood your cutting into. I used a I used a drill for relief hole and a rotary drill with a cutting disk inside the lines. I then used a sanding drum to get the final fit. I got everything hooked up and batteries placed up side down in the battery compartment and hooked it up to play through my amp. This is my 2nd. successful electric Ukulele upgrade.

Great product, good price if you're willing to wait
This product is excellent and a perfect choice to electrify my $50 ukelele. Installation was uncomplicated but required the right tools, care not to damage the instrument and patience. My ukulele sounds great through my guitar amp and I will use it for gigging. There were two issues. It comes without instructions, although YouTube videos clearly describe how to install it. The second issue was shipping. It took two months to arrive from China during the coronavirus shutdown. Amazon claimed it was delivered in two weeks, but had the wrong tracking number. The company, Duoda Digital, was helpful in providing the right number. I saw that it was placed on a airliner in China, then heard nothing for six weeks. I thought about canceling, then saw it had arrived in New York City. I received it about two weeks later.

Works and sounds great.
I wanted to plug in my baritone ukulele, so I got this. The installation wasn't that bad, i don't even have any special tools. I made a stencil, put masking tape over the install area, and drilled holes inside the stencil line. I sanded the rest away using 150 grit sandpaper. The tuner works great, fantastic. It has a "needle" so you can see how many cents off you are. The fact that the tuner works so well is what made me give 5 stars instead of 4.The tone is just about what you would expect, and the 3 band eq is nice for dialing it in. The piezo picks up a lot of string noise, but if you dial back the treble it lessens it.This was totally worth the price, and the effort. Plus, playing the ukulele through my effects is the best part!

Great value - It takes TWO batteries (Stupid me)
There is great advice regarding installation in other reviews. Definitely make templates and go slowly when opening up the holes for the the modules. I was frustrated after the completion of the install because it wasn't working. I removed the modules and double checked the connections. In one of the reviews it mentioned that it requires two batteries. I added another battery and voila! Good tone and equalization. Excellent quality tuner. It played great through my Fender Acoustisonic amp. I used a Dremel type tool for all the work. On the preamp module, I cut back the inside cover slightly to make room for the cable to bend 90 degrees. This made it easier to insert the preamp into the upper bout. Also, I will re-drill the cable hole in the saddle further toward the upper end to get better pick up of the G string which has slightly less volume than the other strings.

Easy and perfect
This pick-up and tuner combo is great! The battery lasts forever. So fast to tune and start playing. I wish it came with a template and instructions, but I figured it out without messing anything up. (Glad too, because my uke was a bit expensive). Oh! Just remember, measure 3 times, trace, measure again... THEN drill the 4 corners inside your lines. Use a dremel, thin coping saw, or file to gently widen the opening. The wood of your uke is so thin so DON'T use a jigsaw or you run the risk off cracking the wood in the area of installation. Just take your time and enjoy your wired uke!

Small price, big performance
I bought a custom painted tenor uke and want to upgrade the strings and add a pickup. This pickup is ideal for a uke. The built in tuner is great and works equally well for high G and low G ukes.I used a pro for the install, but in hindsight wish I had done it myself. I’ll give it a try next time.

Nice pickup if you aren't afraid to drill into your instrument to make it fit.
First time installing a pickup like this. It came out great and learned a lot in the process. The pickup that goes under the saddle is a bit thicker than I expected so that was the hardest part of the installation. When plugged in it sounds great.

It lives!!!
I went for this one as it was a 3 band and had an lcd screen for tuning. It appears as well built as expected, but the battery retaining clip is tight and fiddly to open and I may have to do a little mod on it to make it easier to open. The box has a slight curve on it which makes it blend nicely to the shape of a ukulele. The down sides are more a niggle than a flaw in the product. There are no instructions, it is basic and easy to work out but a small sheet of instructions would be nice. There are no batteries but at this price point it is to be expected. A template would have been nice as we are just about to cut holes in our lovely ukes, I have spent half an how cutting and trimming two templates, one for the unit and one for the output. After waiting for batteries to arrive I slackens the strings and slid the piezo under the strings and against the saddle, connected it all to my amp to dry test before any fitting, wouldn’t want to cut holes then find out it didn’t work or was junk... and yes it sounded good, not great as piezo does tend to pick up extra sound but so much better than a clip on. I would recommend you always connect up and test before you cut any holes! Would I recommend it? At this stage yes. Next I will take my time with the installation, I will take my time, measure twice and then measure again and if your not sure measure again, you will only get one chance to do it perfect!

Works really well but DIY fitting is quite daunting!
Could have done with some basic instructions eg which way up do the batteries go (and what type actually 2032). It is a big scary job cutting holes in your beloved instrument but I did it and when all finished it has worked really well. My fellow band members were really impressed especially considering the low cost but most would never tackle fitting one themselves!

Be aware
No instructions, strange battery type, and no indication of which one it should be.Plus the sides, top and bottom, appear to be straight in the pictures, are curved in reality.I have no doubt it will work, but it would be good to know how to power it.

This device works brilliantly
Like the way it works. but as there were no instructions with it; I had to figure out how to fit it properly.luckily I am quite good at both woodwork and electronics, but others maY have problems.

Great ukulele pickup.
Superb ukulele pickup, fitted it to my tenor ukulele after watching a YouTube tutorial. A bit scary but if you take your time and keep checking the measurements it wil work. The tuner is more accurate than my clip on ones and the sound through the amp is good a few adjustments with the tone controls.
