The $700 Nameplate
Don't waste your extra money for what you think is a premium product. My panel went out after a reasonably short time which on a $800 microwave should not, and of course Viking could care less. They did not even respond to my inquiries. The micro works but of course you cannot see the time as the LCD panel is 99% dark. Their product is no better than a $100 microwave with a fancy Viking nameplate on it. Do not be fooled folks. And yes, I did purchase one through Amazon.

I was going to buy this Viking unit.. ...
I was going to buy this Viking unit...I've been shopping for a replacement for our Viking Professional VMOS200SS model that died after 7 years (the new model, same size, is VMOS201SS). The new one had to fit the $400 Viking 30" Trim Kit VMTK301 (new model is VMTK302). $750 (with local tax) was too high for our budget; after all, most if not all Viking microwaves are Sharp inside. Hard to find a replacement since most 2.0 cubic ft Sharp units are obsolete - but I did find the same Sharp inside components relabeled "Frigidaire Model FGMO205KF" that is available for about half the price of the Viking unit. Yes, you give up the Viking made, heavy stainless steel door material...but, as far as I can tell, that's about it. It fits the 30" #301/302 trim kit perfectly. Your call....

Great Microwave albeit expensive
I have been using this microwave for more than 18 months.Absolutely no complaints either on the pre-defined programs or regular use. I use the pre-defined programs mostly for cooking rice, popcorn and vegetables. My previous Panasonic microwave had inconsistent results for these - either rice came out too dry, or popcorn over or underdone. This one gives consistently good results.Regular heating or de-freezing works like other microwaves, albeit a bit faster despite having same power settings. If one is remodelling the kitchen and going for high-end appliances like Viking, I would recommend getting this microwave as part of the whole set. On its own the expense may not justify the purchase despite the high quality.

The oven needs a below 0 rating: breaks often
This a $1200 microwave oven which is inbuilt in our kitchen. Every 4-6 months, it has a new proble. This week the door wouldn't open or close. 6 months ago it was barely heating anything. So far we have spent $600 on repairs. Buy a Kenmore if you want to save yourself the hassle.
