Dances with Wolves: The American Frontier Epic including The Holy Road: A gripping emotional page turner with a twist

It’s a simple story with powerful imagery of helpless indigenous tribes of America getting ruthlessly crushed under the march of ‘civilisation’. How their primitive lifestyle was in sync with nature. How we destroyed our forests and wildlife. It touches your heart.

Fantastic story about a fascinating time in American history. Tremendously sad at the same time as we all know the subsequent events. Really great read, though. Highly recommend!

I love this book. It arrived in new condition ( I bought used) in only a few days. This version of Dances with Wolves included the sequel The Holy Road. Very happy with this purchase.

A good read if you like Westerns as a genre.

Questo fantastico libro di Michael Blake racchiude Balla coi Lupi e il suo seguito The Holy Road. Nel primo si fa conoscenza di John Dunbar, militare statunitense, che durante la Guerra Civile viene inviato nella frontiera dove incontra una tribù Comanche. Innamoratosi della sua cultura e della libertà riuscirà ad ottenere la fiducia dei nativi facendosi accettare come uno di loro adottando il nome di "Balla coi Lupi". Il seguito riprende molti personaggi presenti nel primo romanzo ma in questo caso, l'autore, tratta della situazione dei nativi messi in difficoltà dall'espansionismo americano. È un romanzo tragico, ricco di colpi di scena e che fa riflettere. Insieme restano due romanzi indimenticabili.

Completing Dances With Wolves books leave me sad with what became of the Native American. My Scottish ancestors were kicked off their land by the English and cohorts during the clearances of the highlands and ended up in Australia. So I can empathise with the native inhabitants of many places. Given the chance of reincarnation I would love to come back as a native american of the open plains before the white man came.
