Whether you're batting for contact or swinging for the fences, the 2018 Rawlings 5150 2-5/8-Inch Big Barrel USA Baseball Bat helps you perform at the peak of your game. Engineered with p0p 2.0 technology, this metal baseball bat features an extra-large sweet spot that gives batters more area to make powerful contact. The bat's big barrel helps improve contact rates, while the balanced design helps hitters generate exceptional bat speed. Constructed with aerospace-grade 5150 Alloy--Rawlings' most radically responsive alloy--this high-performance big barrel bat provides a fluid, natural swing from the loaded position all the way to the follow-through. The 2018 Rawlings 5150 USA Bat meets new 2018 USA Baseball standards and is approved for use in all USA Baseball leagues.

He really likes the grip and the sound and the pop is a little better than we'd expected under the USA bat standards
Last month I purchased the Rawlings 5150 2018 USA bat for my son. He's 11 and using the 30-20 size with a 2 5/8" barrel. He was used to swinging an Easton Mako with the thinner composite barrel so there was a little bit of an adjustment but so far the bat has worked out well. He really likes the grip and the sound and the pop is a little better than we'd expected under the USA bat standards. I'd recommend this bat to anyone looking for a quality alloy bat for next season at a reasonable price. If your child has pretty good swing mechanics, then the nice sweet spot and pop should allow for them hit successfully with this bat.

Not a Great Bat in this Price Range
This bat isn't horrible, but I think you can do considerably better in the same price range. I have twin boys (age 8) and we purchased three different USA-stamped bats in the $50-$100 price range. In my view, this is the worst one of the three that we selected.First, as others have mentioned, it weighed in at 2 full ounces heavier than advertised. This is a big delta for 8 year olds; it makes a meaningful difference in their swing. Next, I didn't like the sound of the impact when the ball hit the sweet spot. This is a matter of preference, but I personally don't like the higher pitched "ping." Further, my boys both liked the feel, sound, and vibration of the two other bats that we purchased more than this Rawlings 2018 5150. Lastly, I feel like the paint is chipping off of this bat much easier than the other two bats we have, and now I hear something rattling around in the inside of the bat. That rattling annoys me and shouldn't be occurring after 5-6 uses in batting practice.I had moderately-high expectations for this bat. It certainly looks and feels like a quality bat at first blush. In practice, however, I found it to be subpar. Just the opinion of one parent of two little leaguers.

Favorite USA Bat yet
This is a USA bat with the most pop that i've seen yet. Even more so than the 2019 model 5150 and not as top heavy as the 2019 model. The weight is BS just like every little league bat, we bought the 27/16 and it weighs about 18.5oz, but very well balanced. My soon to be 7 year old is loving this bat, prefers it over the $175 DeMarini Sabotage I bought him and has dramatically more pop for less price. You cant go wrong with this bat, especially for a sub $100 bat.

Bought this for my 8 year old son because of the 2018 bat rules. He really like the Easton Mako Beast he used for fall ball so I wanted to get him a bat that would have a similar feel, length and weight. It does not seem to have the same pop as the Mako but they are pretty close.

He is actually hitting better since he has better control
I bought this bat for my 11 year old son. I was looking for a 29 inch but had to get a 30 inch instead. My son loves the feel of it, The weight is more evenly distributed instead of being more at the end of the bat. He is actually hitting better since he has better control.

Great Bat!
Great bat! My 9 year old son quickly adjusted to the new bat and is hitting very well with it. Slightly top heavy but performs just as well as a certain bat (that will go un-named) that is more than twice the money. His friend has the more expensive bat and they were hitting the same distances. The Rawlings still has that wonderful pop sound that is so satisfying to hear on the field too. The more expensive bat sounded dull in comparison.

Nice fast bat
Although I despise the new "USA" bats, this one was regarded as one of the best on my kids team throughout the season. Everyone liked how light it was which translated to faster bat speed. He (8 year old) had a great season making contact with the ball almost every time he got up to bat. He wasn't hitting bombs but then again, no one was with the new bats.
