I think it’s only capable of like leafy salads, anything heavier it’ll break **Q: Does the wood have a finish? If so, what kind?** A: no finish-just bamboo **Q: Do these need to be oiled?** A: Use them daily. Do i have never "oiled" them. But i do used them sometimes to pick things out of oil. Good tongs. Love them will get another when /if these wear out. **Q: Is this dishwasher safe or should it be hand washed?** A: Hand washed. Never but anything wooden in the dishwasher. I did that once and it messed it up. Hand wash and spray a little cooking spray on a napkin and wipe it after it's dry.
