9/10 Followup. Much recommended to any Steins;Gate fan
THERE WAS NO SUCH UPDATE/PATCH THAT ERASED SAVES AND/OR CORRUPTED YOUR SYSTEM DATA.Now that that lie in the other review is out of the way--I don't write many reviews on Amazon, but this game has been tainted by a very unfair and untrue 1 star rating.Going into this game you need to know that this will be much more like the second half of S;G than the first half. The slice of life stuff is there, but there's definitely an underlying feeling of urgency, pressure, and depression throughout. This is a much darker story than the first visual novel and that's definitely a main point one should know before delving into this whole thing. Ive been through almost all the routes so far and they all have their incredibly emotional moments--as did the first--but this one even more so.The music is LOVELY. Takeshi Abo doing a great job yet again, especially with his piano renditions--which has become quite the staple thing for the composer of Infinity Series fame. The composer composed the songs after reading through the story--fitting the emotions he received from his experience in the music and you can definitely feel that.As for route choices and progression, yes the game is based on Answering or Ignoring calls. It plays a big part of the story with the thing you're answering or ignoring. It's a major plot point and it doesn't take very long to understand the correct times to do so or what it would lead to if you DO do so. It's a much smoother experience in my opinion than randomly guessing in the first game which response to pick in the text messages. You DO have RINE messages in this one--but they're solely for responding to the characters in the way you want and don't change the path you're on.This is an experience for a heavy Steins;Gate fan and it's an incredible followup to the first game. Highly highly recommended.

A Fantastic Sequel
Before you play this game, play the original Stiens;Gate for PS3, VITA or PC. If you can't get ahold of a copy, at least watch the anime adaption. This is a VISUAL NOVEL. If you don't like to read for hours with very little to no gameplay, this is not a game for you.Now that we got the unenlightened out of the way...This game is absolutely enthralling. It will keep you glued to you screen for hours with twist after twist, revelation after revelation. This is a darker turn from the original, and rightly so. This is a new timeline in which Okabe failed his mission. The art is amazing, even better than the original. The whole interface is more refined and just has a better feel than the original. The sound design is great and the Japanese voice acting is top notch. The music is also great, with some standouts like "Gate of Steiner".The story is a rollercoaster of emotions and I cannot recommended enough. It is based off a three part light novel with some new additions to the story. If you enjoyed the original, just buy it. You will not be disappointed.

Good but the original is far superior
This is a sequel to the original Steins Gate game but instead of continuing the story following the true ending, it branches off of a story from one of the alternate endings of that game. Steins Gate 0 doesn't quite hold to the original's sense of wonder and pitch perfect storytelling, which were both flawless, but it's still a joy to play. There are multiple endings again so make sure you get them all. Recursive Mother Goose is by far my favorite of all the endings this time around.

Great Sequel to Steins;Gate!
Once I finished the anime of Steins;Gate and heard that the sequal, Steins;Gate 0 was also getting an anime adaption, I had to pick this game up!This is a really well done visual novel with great art, voice actors, etc. I haven't played many visual novel games but this is definitely the most well done one I have played. The story is a great continuation of the original where Okarin essentially stays in the original world line and develops an anxiety disorder. He really grows and develops as a character, and the new characters are also really cool. All I can really say is if you liked the original Steins:Gate anime or visual novel, you'll love this just as much or more. And knowing that this is being adapted into an anime soon makes the experience that much better! I've never gotten this into a visual novel before!

Science Fiction
The original steins gate is probably the best science fiction story involving time travel ever written. If you like visual novels or just reading science fiction then I couldn't recommend this and its predecessor more highly. This takes place during the events for the first game close to the events of the true ending and describes the motivations for reaching steins gate and moving toward the new world line, is the best way I can describe it, but I javemt finished this yet.

Essential
If you liked the first VN, this is an essential follow up.(You may need a guide if you can't figure out how to get the other endings.)

This was a great, emotional story
This was a great, emotional story, however, it was incomplete. There were a lot of things that were not explained in the Visual Novel and require reading of additional material to find answers. Much of that material is not translated, so the best you will get is a synopsis on the internet. Plot causation in the original Steins;Gate was much easier to understand. It is inadvisable to read this Visual Novel without having read the first, or at least having watched the original anime.

If you lived the anime, you'll love this game
If you enjoyed the anime like I did, you're sure to love this game. It's more of a story then a game but adds a lot to the original. I did about 35 hours in this to do 100% and would do it again. Ended up binge watching the series again after.
