Social, literary artistic comentary by critics, artists and philosophers of the period 1918-1932.
It's comprehensive and includes shining lights of the time like Walter Benjamin, Brecht, Erich Kästner, Siegried Kracauer, Sigmund Freud.... Also included are some conservative and early National Socialist writers... for a preview of where things were headed. Look at the table of contents!

Great Primary Source for Historians
This is a collection of essays and other works written during the interwar years in Germany, translated from German to English. It is a great tool for undergraduate and graduate students who don't read or speak German. It does reflect, for the most part, the more open-minded writers of the time, but does also include a few essays by writers who will become Hitler's followers. It is well organized and easy to use for research for papers. It is also quite interesting.

Required text for class, didn't take too long to arrive and doesn't seem to be missing any pages, came in solid condition. Content wise theres actually a lot of interesting stuff in here. If you just have assigned readings you may want to flip around on your own you might find something that piques your interest.

Phenomenal
There is no words to sing this book's praises. If you have a decent understanding of World War I and its aftermath, this book is incredible. I believe everyone should understand the competing thoughts that dominated the turbulent time before Hitler's rise; to prevent it from happening again!

What an eye opener! A great read with 'bite sized' chapters on lots of different aspects of both the country and the period. If you've read Isherwood then read this as well.

Very useful!
This is a kind of bible for all who enter Weimar studies. Really useful and precious because it preserves papers otherwise lost forever. Thank you very much!
