I did make this battenburg cake using the moulds but it was very fiddly and had to do a lot of joining of the marzipan.Bees are very cute indeed though.Good for use with wax.Better for adults that young children in my view.

Used this product as a sprig mould for pottery clay. Love this product as easy to use with great outcome. The little bees are worth it alone. They are so cute. Used it to embellish plaques. mugs tree vases all to good effect.

The main piece is too shallow and flimsy to make any visible pattern on fondant icing (or even chilled buttercream icing). And likewise, the imprints for the bees at the top of the main piece are really shallow so anything you turn out just breaks.The 2 smaller molds are more useful - as you can see from the photos, I managed to make some pretty cool bees (using tiny bits of white fondant for the wings, yellow fondant for the body and an edible black pen) and the broken bits of honeycomb look OK.It may be that the main mold works OK with chocolate, but you're wasting your time/money/effort if you want a honeycomb pattern on fondant icing. I've ended up buying a separate wooden rolling pin (from a certain well-known bidding website) which works well.
