(If you haven’t heard of the Restless Auditor’s musings, then this just goes to prove my point.) The remarkable thing about "The Babylon Bee Guide to Wokeness" is that it’s such a pleasure to read. Not only is it a hoot and a half, but it’s remarkably well written and, yes, even thought-provoking. I know you probably don’t want to hear about how well written a book like this is. After all, you’re probably not expecting classic literature here. It’s hard to write positively about society’s ills for so long without any serious trace of negativity or callousness. This is not humor alone, you see, it’s also enlightening humor.Years ago, there was a popular radio personality who often commented that he liked to illustrate absurdity with absurdity, and that’s really what they have accomplished here. It’s not perfect all the time, and I’ll admit that it’s not 100% sidesplitting, but 95% sidesplitting is good enough for me! After all, it does more than simply entertain. It also encourages critical thinking not to mention an appreciation perhaps for not taking ourselves quite so seriously all the time. We have to learn how to look in the mirror and not be afraid to laugh. This book helps us to look at our culture and laugh--rather than cry. Finally, someone called out the nonsense that is plaguing our country, and the authors presented it in a way that left my side cramping from fits of giggles. Seriously folks, I struggled to breathe from laughing so hard. The graphics are EVERYTHING; the comedic delivery is flawless; the disturbing accuracy of ‘wokeism’ is on point.This book is exactly what the world needs right now. Why? One word: satire. It appears the human population has forgotten how to laugh at one another without worrying about hurting someone’s feelings. Well, never fear. The Babylon Bee Guide to Wokeness fills that void beautifully.This is not a book for the oversensitive cry babies who cancel strangers for using the wrong pronouns, for those who believe the US was founded on racism, for the self-proclaimed scientists who form their hypothesis based on the nightly news, for those who end every argument with “do better you transphobic bigot”, or for the parents who love sending their children to indoctrination hubs disguised as educational institutions. I received a preview copy of this book for the sake of providing an honest reaction and review. And I can honestly say that I was amused and entertained by "The Babylon Bee Guide to Wokeness." It is a genuine hoot, in keeping with the Bee's typical fashion, offering a scathing parody of the whole panorama of challenges that fall under the broad banner of "wokeness." What is not so funny at all, but rather sad and tragic, is how close this satire is to the real deal. While admittedly taking the ideas it lampoons to rhetorical extremes, the book is hard-pressed to exagerate the claims of this rampant ideology and worldview, which brazenly attacks and undermines every aspect of traditional society. In truth, "wokeness" as it is actually (and actively) practiced in this present day and age is a caricature of the very offenses it claims to oppose. For example, its "social justice" is the very antithesis of true justice, and its "antiracism" comprises a textbook example of genuine "racist" attitudes.I've been doing a fair amount of reading and research on "wokeness" recently, as I'm teaching a Bible class on the topic for my congregation. And as I say, I was particularly stuck by the fact that the Bee's "Guide to Wokeness," for all its humorous parody and satire, offers a pretty good summary overview of what "wokeness" really is and entails. I've recommended it to my Bible class, not only for its value as entertainment, but as a helpful demonstration of the self-contradictions, dangers, flaws, inconsistencies, and ludicrous weaknesses of "wokeness" in all its many tentacles.

Good quality print, well-thought content with relatable humour

Grande fan des vidéos de Babylon Bee je me suis plongée avec délice dans ce guide du wokisme. Même si c'est un point de vue Américain, et que c'est écrit en anglais (très simple à comprendre) , c'est très accessible pour des français. Drôle, acéré, absurde, il dénonce toutes les bassesses et idioties de ce mouvement victimaire qui n'en finit jamais de nous surprendre. Einstein disait qu'il y avait 2 choses qui étaient infinies, l'Espace et la bêtise humaine, encore avait-il un doute sur l'Espace.

All den/die/das großen, starken, beeindruckenden Vorbildern moderner Kino Kassenschlager, überragender und erfolgreicher Netflixserien und dem Besten, was DC in 85 Jahren Firmengeschichte auf die Beine gestellt hat.Danke. Ich habe verstanden. Großartige Piktogramme, Zeichnungen und Erklärungen helfen dabei. Aber man(n) muss auch wollen. Vor allem als weißer Cis-Mann - also als geborener Rassist, Erdzerstörer und Frauenunterdrücker. Ein Weg der sich lohnt. 200 Seiten um ein besserer Mensch zu werden. Auch wenn ich ohne Chance bin, die Erbsünde (Geschlecht, Hautfarbe) ablegen zu können, so spielen Geschlecht und Hautfarbe nun keine Rolle mehr für mich. Außer, sie sind von Vorteil für Randgruppen, wie zum Beispiel die knapp 51% Frauen auf der Welt.Empfehlung!

I brought this book, because I wasn’t woke enough and I thought it would help me become more woke. I had tried reading white fragility and I just.. couldn’t (I’m sure it is my fault not the authors), and I thought this would help as a beginners guide.It did not help. I am sure I am less woke than before I started reading this book, and as a straight white man that is an accomplishment!I am not sure what the authors were thinking when they wrote this. Maybe they decided to write it as a joke. If they did, then they didn’t know that jokes are more dangerous than guns. Jokes can kill, whereas guns don’t.
