Edoten executes a traditional setta zouri with modern materials and design elements well enough to make you want to purchase the more expensive, natural material version as they will certainly be even more comfortable.I suppose we should start with the one thing people always seem to miss: THE STRAP PLACEMENT IS CENTERED.You can see it in the pictures. The strap is dead center as these are modeled after traditional setta zouri. This will cause the sandal itself to angle underfoot. It is natural for the little toe to hang off a little. This is not a design flaw, but an inherent aspect of maintaining traditional design.The other thing is that yes, the straps are very tight when you receive these. They stretch out very quickly. They stretch only enough to be fitted and to securely on to your foot. The straps are soft and well padded. Given about a week to wear in and they become quite comfortable.Another thing to note with these is that they are not tatami, wheat nor straw. They are vinyl made to look like natural footing. I was concerned about them being synthetic as like many people this typically causes my foot to get hot or sweat a bit. I have not experienced that. Perhaps the grass design allows for airflow.I wear a 10.5/11 US Mens and purchased the XXL size and it fits perfectly.The cushion is bouncy and responsive. Nicely reduces impact on hard surfaces.The tread is grippy and non-slip on hardwood and tile.I definitely recommend these to an educated buyer. Please know what you're getting in to before buying and blaming the company for your misunderstanding.

I bought these for my husband and based my purchase (size) on the information. So a size 9 1/2 USA Mens shoe worked for the XL. He wanted to have room and was happy with the way it fit. He will later be wearing tabi with his traditional kimono ensemble. Thank you for quickly delivering this wonderful Japanese item so quickly. I think it arrived in 2 days! Wow!

Love the big sizes it comes in. Looks great. If his is your first, it might hurt your feet like all setta do, but you can get used to it. Don’t wear it when it’s wet. Slippery

To small, although I ordered largest shoe, can these be made in American sizes?
