The pivot for the blade is a hollow, thin brass tube, which is electrically conductive and non-magnetic. The rest is ceramic and plastic. It should be reasonably safe to carry around strong magnetic fields (both attractive and inductive), and won't register on magnetic scan 'metal detectors.' However, be aware that lots of detection devices these days no longer use magnetism; for instance, the millimeter-wave 'body scan' units at airports look for density variations - which this tool has a lot of. **Q: How thick is the handle (i see that the blade is 0.0275")?** A: The handle is 2.75mm thick; just a hair under 3mm **Q: Are these TSA compliant?** A: It would be best to ask the TSA directly.
