Get to the fun part of cookie decorating immediately
I bought this to make Gingerbread men with my 4 year old granddaughter. They made it easy. The cookies are premade. The kit comes with icing and candies for decorating.

My four year old grandson loves making these cookies!
You make these cookies from scratch and they provide some ingredients but not all. Remember, this a four year old and I let him mix and pour all the ingredients and decorate to his delight. It was his first time to make cookies and he loved them because they were Ninja gingerbread men!!

Selling expired products
UPDATE MARCH 23, 2023I didn't pay attention to the product when I left the original review. We never got a chance to make them at Christmas so today as I was going through my baking stuff I came across the box. As I started looking I noticed that this box said BEST IF USED BY JULY 2022. I attached when I ordered this item which was in OCT 2022 which means they knew they sent out some disgusting, expired product. Now yes I know you can use items after that date, but that certainly isn't the point. Since we forgot about it that item should still have been good and not even expired until this year or next. Since I don't know how long their items are good for this item could have been sitting on a shelf for 5yrs for all I know. I'm so mad I didn't even notice this date when I bought it to get a refund. I guess I would assume a business would send FRESH items and not past expiration.I don't know why I thought this was a kit when I bought it, but I see it's a mix I have to make to get the shapes to decorate. I will say there is barely anything in the box. I am not sure how many cookies this dough will make but there is not a lot of frosting or decorations either. The only part worth the money is the cookie cutters. There are 4 but again you could probably find them individually for sale. If you have a favorite dough you use you can just use that to make the ninjas with. If you're giving this as a gift to a child the only way it would be a great gift is if someone actually makes them the cookies for them to decorate. I can't speak on taste as we haven't made it yet or on how many you get out of their box mix. It says 10-12 on the box.. I will attach pics to show what all you get. In the end if you're a baker like myself buying just the cutters from another site and like I said making your own dough might be the best way to go. If you're not a great baker, just tired, want something to do with a child or grandchild, this wasn't that expensive when I bought it and did arrive quickly. I guess the good side of it not being cookies you just decorate is you don't have to worry your cookies get broken in transport. I had my son open it to make sure nothing was damaged and that's when I realized it was a mix. I do see there are other items listed on the back of the box you need such as butter, honey, powdered sugar to make this mix and icing. It does say it contains wheat on the cookie mix, and egg on the small frosting mix that should be in the one pic I posted so if a family member has an allergy to either of those this might not be the product for you.

Cookies Taste Good, But Decorating Is Difficult
For a packaged cookie mix, this NINJABREAD GINGERBREAD COOKIE KIT makes pretty good cookies. They have a light gingerbread taste, and the icing doesn't leave an unpleasant aftertaste. You will need a couple of extra ingredients to make these: 1/4 cup honey (for the cookies), and 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for the icing). The mix really does produce 20 cookies. One of mine is a round blob (see the photo), because I didn't want to roll out any more dough. However, I could have gotten another Ninja cookie out of it. Before rolling out the gingerbread dough, I divided it into quarters, so I could tell how thick the dough needed to be to get five cookies per quarter. The cute Ninja cookie cutters are included. As you can see, I'm not terribly good at decorating cookies. It was harder than I expected to duplicate the package illustrations to make the gingerbread shapes look like Ninjas. Instead of using the included pastry bag, I used an OXO Baker's Silicone Decorating Bottle Kit, which gave pretty good control. I had to chill the icing in the freezer for a little while, because when I mixed it according to the package instructions it was too thin for decorating purposes. All I could get were runny blobs.Because the decorating was kind of difficult, and the cookies taste like they came from a packaged mix, I rate this item at 4 stars ("I like it" on the official Amazon scale).

A fun family project!
We had to adjust the icing directions a little by adding more water, but other than that, it gave clear directions and became a fun activity the kids and adults could enjoy together.

Cute idea, but it is a little pricey
cute idea. the cutters are very cute and can be used over and over obviously for sandwhiches and cookies. the gingerbread mix isn't the best, it requires more ingredients that maybe not everyone has in their kitchen (I had to go buy honey) I only got 8 cookies out of the mix also. I think it is a little pricey and I saw a corresponding Ugly Sweater Kit (the same kit, but different cutters) at Wal-Mart for $8.

Great cookie cutters!
These cookie cutters are excellent! I've used them many times since purchasing this kit. I was a little concerned that they wouldn't produce well-cut figures, but that wasn't the case at all. My gingerbread men came out looking just like the ones on the box. I even saved the front of the box for decorating ideas.I used the cookie mix only because I can't stand letting food go to waste. It was fine- sort of what you'd expect from a mix. After that I used my normal gingerbread recipe for these. The frosting mix was fine as well, but I didn't try the small candies; I'm not sure I would really consider those food.

something that combines my love of Ninjas with my fondness for cookies
Finally, something that combines my love of Ninjas with my fondness for cookies! These are nice, sturdy cookie cutters that can be used again and again. The kit comes with 4 different ninja cookie cutters, gingerbread mix, icing, and candy pieces. I recommend using your own frosting and candy pieces (ours were probably a little old). This is a neat quirky gift item that I would highly recommend for the martial arts/baking enthusiast in your life.
