Works Really Well
A little learning curve to get the right temperature and cutting speed, but then it works great. Cut 4" upholstery foam with a breeze, avoid the fumes however, they are irritating to the lungs. Six inch rigid wall panels were a bit slower, but cut was easy to control and less irritating fumes. Pay attention to resting the blade and cutting small sections at a time.

Nice sharp & straight edge
Had order quickly to finish a project for a Train SHow. This was a life saver. Order overnight and was able to complete the project. Used a metal straight edge and it was like PERFECT! A man's tool for fiberboard cutting!

Thin bendy blades
Cuts fine, but be sure to go slow. The blades are very thin (by design) so when they're hot they bend VERY easily if you force them. Turn the heat up, go slow, let the weight of the knife do the work, and use a gentle sawing motion for best results. Also, only comes with two blades, not three as shown. Knocking one star for not coming with the third blade.

Trigger
I love the fact that you push the trigger to get it hot and then when you're done you just let go of the trigger and put it down and it doesn't stay on like other heating cutting tools do I love this thing it's really amazing and it cuts just like a hot knife to butter

Awful Product / Blades Too Thin / Inconsistent Cut
Used this Foam Cutter once and it RUINED 01 of my Foam Brick Panels ($28 Each). This does NOT cut on all the surfaces it claims with ease. The blades are Way Too Thin resulting in a vary inconsistent cut AND bend out of shape immediately during use. They need to be at least twice as thick.. I now have to replace the panel that was ruined. The instructions state for proper use, it should not smoke when cutting however to for it to actually cut, the heat needs to be high enough which causes smoking. It also MELTS the product regardless of temp and looks like crap! I applaud Amazons return policy as i can at least purchase something to finish the job that this product couldn't (ie. Dremel)... I would NEVER recommend or purchase again!

Good value, happy with product
This is the third knife we've used for cutting foam of different densities. This is the best. The blade is thin enough for exacting measurements, and easy to use. Good usage and cleaning instructions. We've used this on standard styrofoam sheets 3/16"-2" thick and also on 2" thick purple insulation (very dense). Would buy again.

Works very well. Cuts foam very fast. Takes getting used to. If you feed to quickly the thin blade bends and you have a crappy cut. You must gage the heat, feed speed, thickness of material and keep the angle, speed and follow a well defined line. When your cutting properly there is very little resistance and the melted cut width is about 3/16" or like 4mm. Best to put a piece of lumber on top of the Styrofoam to guide your hand or the side of the tool, which gives a very good clean cut. Great quality tool for the price.

When the blade is not in the machine, the red light turns on and it works. When we add the blade in, nothing works. The light doesn't turn red anymore. What should I do? This is an expensive product, I expect it to work.

I bought this as we were working in a old house so it would make it easier to cut 75 mm silver back foam sheets for insulation. This cutter works wonders, but the down side is that if you have it on high you will start a fire. I found out today just cutting a sheet of foam how easily it can happen that nearly started a fire the foam ignited just cutting it. The house fill with smoke fast with all the new alarms going off we managed to put the fire out. Make sure that the temperature switch is turned down, and read the manual carefully. Would recommend this electric foam cutter.

This thing is great. Cuts through insulation foam easier a hot knife through butter. You definitely want to wear a respirator while using it but it's fast and easy and doesn't generate any microplastic debris to clean up afterward like a jigsaw or knife does. So well worth it for the time savings to avoid extensive vacuuming.
