Great fun and educational advent calendar
My son has opened the first box today and I have to say this is the best advent calendar we have had by far. The calendar is accompanied by a book talking you through each experiment step by step and explaining the science behind each trick/experiment. Really looking forward to tomorrow’s box.

Broken item
I bought this for my 11 year old son as his Christmas advent. He really enjoyed it but was disappointed that one of the days had broken products. Hence 4 stars instead of 5.

Lovely experiments but overpriced
It's been good fun. The book with the descriptions is brilliant, but the whole box is quite expensive for what you get. Most days you would get household materials - a piece of paper, some straws, a balloon, etc... I would say it's more like to be a £15 box

Total rip off
I don’t really write product reviews but had to for this one. It’s not a cheap advent calendar at just under £30 but the contents are a joke. It’s day 6 and my daughter has received a paper napkin, a few paper clips, 2 cheap paper printed cards, a pencil, those beads you put into water to grow. It’s a bunch of the most random stuff imaginable. If this calendar had cost 50p, I might have had a laugh and that’s that. But it was a decent amount of money for absolute junk. The only good thing about it is that what’s inside has become the daily family joke. We can’t believe the contents so we literally laugh so much our eyes water.Don’t waste your money. This is the worst advent calendar ever.

Great Product!
Bought the magic & Tricks advent calendar as an "off screen" activity for my 2 boys, 8 years old twins. They LOVE IT. It's not a regular magic kit- dont expect that. It's more "scientific" and comes with lots of straightforward explanations. The procedures are easy to follow with step by step pictures. Everyday we open a new box and explore together. Especially loved the hydrophobic sand (never heard about it before), the milk that becomes a jewelry and the Lava lamp. Absolute FIVE STARS.--

Not much magic - lots of work for the adults
We didn’t want an advent calendar with candy for the kids and went looking for an alternative. Many of the toy options are filled with junk that will end up as clutter around the house. I was looking for something that would be fun for the kids but wouldn’t get them sugar highs or linger after the holidays. This seemed like a good option, however there are some drawbacks that will have us buying chocolate next year!Things to know:1) a lot of the projects are more science-y and less magic (not necessarily a negative, but something to know)2) the projects can’t be done by a 7 yr old without adult help (at all). As an example, at least two require the stove.3) some of the projects take days to complete.4) some of the projects take 45 minutes of active engagement (which when you are doing them everyday can be annoying if not impossible to squeeze in on a school night)5) many of the projects require things from around the house - nothing too outlandish but you may or may not have all the thingsI still gave it 4 stars as my kids had fun and there were projects for everyday. It was just too much hassle for my preference/schedule.

Favorite advent calendar yet
This may be my favorite advent calendar that we have given our son yet. We did the first day and it is “magic tricks”. But really it is a bunch of neat mini stem experiments. It comes with a nice book that explains how to do the experiment and the science behind it. Very cool.

Not what I expected; kiddo disappointed
This is not magic tricks at all, but science experiments. So that’s ok but not what I wanted. Also, some of the boxes are very disappointing for kids hoping for a neat surprise - one box actually only contains one paper towel. So I’m not excited about this and my kiddo is disappointed.
