I remember the many sports writers saying that Larry Bird could not be successful in the NBA saying he lacked speed, quickness and athleticism. Those characteristics can be evaluated however Larry had qualities that can’t be measured like: basketball sense, vision of the full court, desire and heart for success, commitment, work ethic, team player... INSPIRATIONAL STORY!

I was surprised read about his childhood and his parents divorce in his senior year. And his fathers suicide a year later. He was not a pampered kid. Grew up hard

Could have been more in depth about the man. Pretty much just a recap of each season, not too personal.

Wikipedia tells a better story. Being a lifelong celtics fan i could have written this book without resesrch. I wanted more insight to bird's life away from basketball and what made him great. Rather the author simply pins details from a box score of bird's highlights. I wouldn't advice purchasing.

This review comes from a man who loves basketball and loves the Larry Bird story. I gave up on this book half way through as it because it became a boring recitation of records, results, and stats.

Purchased this for my 9-year-old grandson who had to make a presentation for his class. He really liked the book and with all the information he got out of it he received a 100% for all points possible, an A+! Even my husband, a huge Bird fan who doesn't like to read, read the book.

My ten yr old son did a book report on Larry and loved this book. I highly suggest for sports loving kids.

It's a good description of Larry and easy to read. The challenge is there is no Larry quotes and the author is selling Bird as a hero.There is no need. A star is always a starNeed a quick overview or recap readLooking for understanding of the person Larry, not so much
