easy mix, great taste
I've tried a bunch of different egg protein powders which I use daily in a blender shake. This is one of the best tasting as well as one of the more economical, with no objectionable ingredients. It also has a nice fluffy consistency that blends easily without caking up on the sides of the blender like some brands. There are some unflavored that might be a bit cheaper but with this I have to add less cocoa powder to the shake and that saves money, since cocoa powder is expensive.I switched to this from the NOW and Vitol brands for these reasons. NOW and Vitol egg powders are fine and sometimes a little less expensive but this one is very appealing. This is pretty minor but the plastic jar it comes in also well designed and looks nice sitting on the table. On the downside this is sweetened with an artificial sweetner, Sucralose, that although certified as safe by the FDA has been associated with negative effects in several animal studies (see Wikipedia). It also has artificial flavors. The NOW product has no additives and the Vitol product is all natural and sweetened with the no calorie plant extract, stevia. The Optimum Nutrition vanilla custard powder also tastes great; it is artificially flavored and sweetened with Aspartame which has more scientific studies causing controversy over its healthfulness.Between the pure protein NOW powder and the vanilla Vitol, the Vitol is a little more expensive but more appealing, better tasting, and mixes up a little better.I use 100% egg powder because it is cholesterol free, amino-acid balanced and milk-free. Balanced vegan protein powders can be expensive and soy or pea products can be hard to digest; soy also has negative nutritional factors and female hormone analogs. Milk-based powders can have lactose or allergens for some people. So for me egg protein powder is a great way to get protein that is easy to digest, allergen free, inexpensive and low calorie (free of fats and carbs).

Works well, without digestive problems!
I first tried this about a year ago after giving up on finding a whey protein that didn't upset my stomach. I also tried both rice and soy protein (including ON's soy protein which tastes good and mixes well), but I decided to try this since egg protein, unlike the two I just mentioned, is animal based, as opposed to plant based. Animal based protein, like egg, beef, and whey protein, has a much better amino acid profile than plant based protein. Without getting too far into the scientific details, you can expect to recover better and get stronger from this than from the aforementioned rice and soy proteins. Now, there are many factors are play here (sleep, overall food intake, workout routine, etc), but I feel that I recover just as well, or better, as when I took whey protein. The plant proteins never seemed to do much for me.As far as digestion goes, this product works very well. I don't understand why I can't digest whey well - I can eat cheese, yogurt, and ice cream no problem - but if you're like me, then this product might be for you. Also, personal preference, this tastes amazing with gatorade powder, the lime flavor in particular. Of course, gatorade powder isn't the healthiest post-workout carb, but I also have digestive problems with ON's Glycomaize, and I am on the lookout for a suitable replacement. I also like it with coconut milk (the carton kind, not the one that comes in a can). I don't really like it mixed alone with water, but the taste isn't too strong so I can down it if I have to. One last thing, it mixes well, better than any plant protein I've tried besides ON's soy protein, when shaken in a blender bottle. Stirring does not seem to work well unfortunately.I've been using this consistently for a year and don't see myself changing anytime soon.

Huge tub of the chocolate jut arrived. One little problem
Well, I just received my Optimum Nutrition 100% Egg Protein, Rich Chocolate, 2 pound. I kept looking for an egg protein powder that was sugar free. Also, I wanted to use this powdered protein in my coffee in the morning--my lovely husband said he's make it for me. He brings me coffee every morning as I am foggy when waking up. I take a particular antidepressant, and it's suggested that I eat protein soon after waking up. I asked a chemist friend, a professor, who has actually made an egg protein powder. He told me that it's fine to use the powder in coffee, that heat won't change the composition of the drink. I'm adding this as it seems to be an issue with bodybuilders. Then, all excited, I opened the plastic lid. This is a very dumb thing to do! I learned my lesson! Never open a food product without checking the ingredients first! The listed ingredients are ok..but you should all know that the powder also contains cocoa processed with Alkali, the worse method for chocolate. But worse--the information you see about this before you buy it doesn't include telling us that it uses Sucralose-Splenda. I know many diabetics use this, and that's well and good. But I am not happy that the Sucralose was not mentioned, for I would not have bought it. I've opened the package, so I can't send it back. Again, don't do this stupid thing. :-) I don't see that there are any other issues with the Gold Standard Egg product apart from hiding the fact that it contains an artificial sweetener that many people don't want to consume in high quantities What the company info does say is that it contains Includes "no lactose or aspartame." I consider this to be a lie of omission. So, you've been warned if, like me, you want to avoid splenda. Not happy this company left out this info. But I also blame myself for opening it before checking. Also, won't go into the way I figured out how to put this in hot coffee without it turning into a cooked egg. Write me if you want to know. But I won't be using it much. I will say that the nasty-chemical chocolate does taste very good for a powder.

Good Protein, Taste Not Great
Ive only tried vanilla, its a great source of protein but it really doesnt taste great, its bareable but it could be alot better,it also doesnt mix as well as normal Whey.its definatly worth a buy but if your lactose intolerant or you want a slower digesting more bioavailable protein source, but if your one of these people that buy a shake because it tastes like mcdonalds milkshake then this wont be for you.

Anybody want a free tub of Egg Protein with only 1 portion removed ?
Got to be the most awful tasking stuff I've ever tried: There aren't many food products that actually act as an emetic but this is one of them.I bought this as an alternative to USN Diet Fuel which I've used for 6 months but had read that egg was better than other protein sources. I can't argue that point as I wasn't able to use it long enough to compare which is a shame because I think that the theory might be correct.Bottom line: It don't work if you can't drink it !!
