Internal terminals corroded and unit became inoperable in just 4 months use.
Purchased and installed under my roof’s protective eve in Jan 2020 and it ran powered on until April (just 4 months). Plugged back in in November and the unit just clicked, but the wire tape heated up. Pressed “test” and reset multiple times, but no change. Clicking got slower in a few hours and finally, nothing. No red power light, no clicking either. Opened the tape connection panel and I can see a lot of corrosion on each of the three terminals (see pics). My previous exact Raychem 30499 unit lasted three years and I thought that was too short of life span. What is going on with this device? Why the corrosion?

Connected heat tape that runs in a gutter and this kit has everything you need. Raychem is a well know quality company.I had to cut the plug and put an angled plug on so it fit in the outdoor box.
