Lots of Action!
Good characters, believable. Good story, believable. A lot of action that makes the story move fast hard to put down because you want to see how everything turns out. Only draw back is the character who wanted Lauren's jewels, there wasn't enough details, (for me), to satisfy my curiosity. The wrap up seemed a little too pat, too rushed. The story, in itself, was very good.

Lisa Marie Rice at her best
Midnight Vengeance is Lisa Marie Rice at her best. It’s been years since she’s written another Midnight book and this one is a welcome addition to the series. If you’ve read LMR, she writes super alpha military (former) heroes and sweet, usually beautiful heroines. I love that when I read LMR I know exactly what I’m getting and this book is no different. In Midnight Vengeance, Jacko (Morton Jackman) is a former Navy SEAL sniper working for Alpha Security International run by John Huntington and Douglas Kowalski (from two of the original Midnight books). Jacko was first introduced in Midnight Angel as being one of the security guys to watch out for Allegra and I’ve been curious about him ever since. He works for ASI and is good at his job. He’s a rough biker-looking type who has no problem with the ladies. All that changed for him four months ago when he met Lauren Dare. She’s an artist who’s friends with Suzanne Huntington and when he met her he started taking classes she gives. And it turns out he’s a natural artist. He's nervous around her and hasn't wanted to be with any other women since they met.Lauren Dare is on the run from someone dangerous and a little insane. Two friends of hers have already died so she’s been really careful to keep her life quiet. When Suzanne has an art show for her, Lauren nearly has a panic attack when someone takes pictures of her. Jacko gets rid of the pictures and they leave the show not long after with her claiming to have a headache. From here things really heat up with Jacko and Lauren. The chemistry between them was fantastic and off the charts, very old school LMR. I also really liked that these characters felt more real than some of her others. Their attraction to each other intense but we get to see them doing ‘real life’ things and it added more realism to their relationship, making me believe these two had a strong future. There’s a lot of camaraderie with the characters and I feel like this book connected everyone stronger than the first three. In addition to a fantastic romance between Jacko and Lauren, this book also gave a peek into the lives of the main characters from the first Midnight books, something I appreciate. If you enjoyed the first three books in her Midnight series or love her Dangerous series, I think you’ll love this book.

Very good, could have been better.
I'm a huge fan of Lisa Marie Rice and like her, I'm eternally 30 years old. So here's what I want to say, Jacko is such a great character. So give us more of him. Half of this book is the story of the guy who wants to kill Jacko's woman, Lauren. This is the typical LMR formula of going back and forth between the narrative of the couple and that of the killer. Sometimes it works as in Midnight Angel (Midnight 3) because there is a connection between the hunted woman and the killer. But in many of her books it's just annoying. I love Woman on the Run, but REALLY too much about the "professional" who wants to kill her.The success of the first book in this series, Midnight Man was because LMR actually developed the relationship between John (Midnight Man) and Suzanne. When they are hiding out together, we actually get some scenes of them falling in love. (Okay, the fact that it's suddenly Christmas is a bit surprising. I had to go back and look for the one reference to Christmas before they ended up in the cabin. And hey, could have mined a lot of good Christmas material before the cabin.)This book has a great beginning and there's a narrative opportunity for Jacko and Lauren to become a really hot couple. He is willing to give up his career for her when he realizes that she is on the run from a killer. The team stands by him and he takes Lauren home to protect her. There is a sweet lovemaking scene when they arrive at his home. And that's it! Nothing more until they are awakened by a phone call three days later from Bud letting them know that the (perceived) killer is about to get it.We get a brief reference to the fact that the couple has spent the last few days together in a sex induced haze. But, why not give us those days, LMR?! What happens?! Do they order food from the grocery store on-line? Does she cook for him? Do they watch TV on his big screen TV? Does Lauren go stir crazy and they go for a ride on his motorcycle? Does she continue to paint at Jacko's house? He's a buffed guy, does he work out? There's so much to work with here.Instead we get the story of the killer, who I COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT. Why should I care what this guy likes or doesn't like? He isn't even connected to Lauren's past. Lisa Marie, couldn't you have spent the time on Lauren and Jacko's story and not this jerk? Just sayin. And, second problem... many of LMR books are overpriced. This kindle book is reasonable, so why are others almost 6, 7, 8, or even 9 dollars? And why the different pricing? Oh and don't make the mistake I did. I bought all the "Dangerous" books separately for $8.89 per book and then saw that I could have bought all three as a set for much cheaper. (The Dangerous series is very good too.) Geez.I'm still a believer and will read your books, LMR. But, will you listen to me?!

excellent read
This book was my first read of this author and I fell for all the men of midnight. Aside from one disappointing novella (no author is perfect all the time) I’ve loved everything she’s written and highly recommend this series.

3.5 stars.
It was a good read. Not a fav from this author, but it kept me reading and the characters were interesting. The romance was good. Storyline was good too. Just not as engaging as some of her previous books that I’ve read.

A Work of Art!
I Really love that LMR has written about the other Men of Midnight and whilst this book didn't contain as many of the red hot descriptive love scenes that are usual for this author, what there were, were sexy-sweet. Jacko - we met him briefly in Midnight man and saw more of in Midnight Angel, has fallen in love with Lauren, an artist and friend of his boss' wife Suzanne Huntington (Midnight Man). His problem is that he's never felt like this before and is unsure how to proceed. He wants her desperately but his feelings scare him like nothing ever has. What he doesn't know is that time is running out. Lauren is on the run from a psychopath intent on killing her. She has never felt strongly about any man until Jacko and wants one night with him before you she is forced to leave forever. Suffice to say when Jacko finds out, he will use everything at his disposal to keep her and protect her no matter the cost - even if that's his life.
