Large Mother Hen - Chick Brooder Hen/heat lamp - 39x39cm

First time using a brooder plate to raise 6 chicks. I find it so much better than a heat lamp. Just a bit tricky to get it to the right height at the start. I ended up putting it a bit higher to start with as our 2 day old chicks were a little bit scared to go under it at first. Once they noticed it was nice and warm I lowered it a bit and they snuggled up happily under it. One side can be adjusted lower and one higher, so the chicks get the choice where to go. I was hesitating to get a smaller brooder plate instead, but now our chicks are 2 weeks old and have grown a lot, I do not regret that I went for a bigger one. You just need to get a brooder which is large enough to accommodate the chick brooder hen. We are using a big rabbit cage which is working fine. The only disadvantage of a brooder plate is you have a bit more cleaning to do and you can only clean the top with a scraper and a damp cloth. I put a thin non-slip rubber mat on one part of the top which makes daily cleaning easier, as the map can be rinsed and dried without problems before putting it back onto the brooder hen.

It is the first time I incubate chicks. A fox attacked the 1st April killing all my pet hens. I suddenly thought, the eggs waiting to be eaten...may be fertilized. I now have 9 chicks! They LOVE the heat plate. The graduated legs are wonderful as you can put it higher on one end and lower in the other. Very handy if , like me, the chicks are not the same age. Mine are nearly 30 hours apart. They love to come in and out and now that they are a bit older, jump on top of it. Each week you check the chicks size and raise it a bit more. My chicks don't make lots of noises which I understand is that they are happy with the heat etc. The plate is very sturdy and the instructions are good.My chicks are happy with this plate so Im happy. Totally recommend it.

I love this, it's really very big, and so easy to put the legs on, very good quality brooder from a very good company.

The heating plate is fully adjustable even with one side slightly higher. My chicks love snuggling under this

It was simple to put together and the legs fitted but had to wait about 2/3 days for the heat to work underneath was hot but nothing else/beddingOnly the metal was hot and if u would’ve put my chicks under that they would’ve been burnt

I bought this for when my chicks hatched, unfortunately I only had one chick that hatched but by damn it’s a good bit of equipment my little Goldie loved it. Now I have a silkie under there and she loves it too

Ok people, the comments that say the legs don't fit, don't realize there are buttons on the bottom that you need to push. The legs work great! They move up and down. I have only owned my heater for a few days but it's been great so far. My chicks love it too.

I thought the shape of this brooding plate was really cute & titan as a company had great reviews so I gave it a try. As a first time chicken Mom I was super nervous tho & tested the product extensively before my chicks arrived. I found that while it did work & the chicks seem to like it, I'm concerned it may run too hot. ?I tested it with 3 different types of thermometers including an instant reader & a laser reader & found that while the top is always abt 90°F, the floor beneath runs at 95°F. Even when it's raised all the way up to the 5 week setting... ?it also hotspots on the underside of the plate itself, up to 120°+F...I'm new to baby chicks, maybe that's normal? But I was concerned abt them burning themselves on it, so I emailed the company through the customer support on their website, but never got any response. 🤷‍♀️My chicks will be 4 weeks old this week & although I've had the brooder set as tall as it will go for the last 2 weeks they still sleep all around it's edge, avoiding the heat beneath it...I am grateful that it did work & my chicks are safe; but I had many sleepless nights that first week, concerned that they would burn themselves with it down so low.& there was one instance of one getting stuck in the hotspot & crying miserably until I helped her to find the outer edge again. All in all, it was cost effective for the number of chicks I had. I'd have gone with the k&h brooder if I'd had fewer chicks. but it would help a lot if there was a way to adjust the output. A dail to lower the wattage would go a long way towards making this a perfect product. Tho as it was I had to adjust the height setting twice a day on hot days with cold nights & even had to turn it off entirely when the ambient temp rose into the 90's this summer.🤷‍♀️ If the company had simply reassured me that 120°F was safe for the chicks I would have appreciated it. I was worried maybe I had a defective product...

Avendone testata la qualità per circa venti giorni continuativi posso valutare questo prodotto come uno dei miei migliori acquisti effettuati on line.I pulcini, una volta nati dentro l'incubatrice, hanno necessità di restare ad una temperatura adeguata ma anche di potersi muovere pertanto dopo solo una decina di ore dalla nascita possono essere collocati sotto questo macchinario affinché restino al caldo.
