Flexibility in customizing a door.
The deadbolt lock extensions allowed me to customize a door to fit exactly what I needed for my shed. Without these I may have had to completely change the thickness of the door.

Perfect!
I didn't use this on a thick door, but I repurposed the tail piece for my application. I had a double cylinder dead bolt and wanted to use Simplisafe's smart door lock. Well that is only compatible with single cylinder dead bolts. The problem being was my tail piece was way too short coming from the double cylinder. I didn't want to re-key my deadbolts so I swapped the smaller tail piece with this longer one. I did have to dremel cut it down to the correct size needed, but it's functioning perfect on my door. $13 was well worth it for an easy swap.

I used this with the BE365 CAM 609 Keypad Deadbolt (with modifications)
I built a soundproof room and door for my home theater and the door is 5" thick. I could not find a way to get the door to pull securely closed to seal because all of the doorknobs and deadbolts are not made for a door of that thickness. I wanted a digital deadbolt to keep the little ones out, but easy access for the adults. I saw this and bought this product along with the deadbolt just to see if I could combine the two and make it work. I was able to weld the two shafts from the kit and the deadbolt into one that would work in the deadbolt, but also be long enough to cover the door's thickness. Fortunately the screws were long enough as they are made to trim down to fit. The door lock works perfect. Now the room is secure and because the deadbolt allows the door to fully seal the soundproofing works so much better. I am positive this will work with other locks than it states if you are willing and able to make modifications to the pieces.

you WILL need some form of metal saw but otherwise its good
Don't be fooled by the notches, you can't just snap these things off at the spots with wire cutters, you'll need a saw at least for the bolts. Otherwise it does what its supposed to.

Defective - Does Not Fit
The biggest issue with this extender kit is that the end of the "turning pin" is a different shape to the end of the original and it does not fit into the original lock. In the picture, the original is at the top and the replacement is at the bottom. To fix this you need to cut off the end off and then measure the length needed so that the cut off end fits into the groove inside the door lock. The pin and screws are designed to be cut to size to fit the width of the door but even with these cutting guidelines and with the extra cutting to remove the end of the turning pin, the pin was too long so it had to be measured and then cut further to fit. The replacement pin is not compatible and Schlage should just offer various extender kits to fit various door widths to avoid the need to cut to size.

Worked perfectly
This did the job on my extra thick shed doors. The bolts come with reliefs in them or steps if you will, allowing you to customize the depth. I was able to leave them without modifying or cutting them down. My door around 3.75” thick. The longer lever is easy to install on the deadbolt. Very happy with the outcome.

Not really compatible with Schlage Encode
The driver bar in this kit has a subtly different shape from the driver bar that comes with the Schlage Encode. The end of the driver bar that goes into the interior thumbturn is missing a notch that the Schlage Encode one has, so you have to cut it down. The end of the driver bar that goes into the cylinder is rotated relative to the Schlage Encode one (see photo), so the range of motion is incorrect (the deadbolt doesn't extend out all the way).In the end, the Schlage Encode works with this but it's a little janky. It's really frustrating that Schlage sells components that are incompatible in a hard-to-notice way.
