Decent buy for price
Living in the Dairy State means that cheese is a staple and a cheese platter practically mandatory at any gathering or celebration. So, cheese slicing is serious business in these parts. I often gravitate towards buying block cheese as I find the selection and value often better. However, this presents the issue of odd sized, broken, smashed slices of cheese, or cheese sticking to the blade. (I'm looking at you habanero cheese.)Fear not, this afforabled little slicer isn't only easy on the eyes but also easy on the wallet. Not only is the price more affordable than the ones sold at my local deli, the quality appears better as well. This cuts semi soft cheeses beautifully, think cheddar, pepper, mozzarella, Muenster, Colby, Jack, those sorts. It has made the dreaded chore of slicing up a bunch of cheese into an enjoyable experience. My house and guests enjoy a lot of spicy cheeses, many of which run in the creamy side, often making slicing with a traditional blade not only dreadful but nearly impossible. My teenage son has developed quite an appreciation for this gadget as well. It may have made cheese snacking a tad bit too alluring for him. However, he does gladly help slice a beautiful cheese platter on occassion, and he appreciates the grid to help make uniform slices. It looks nice on the counter, and washes up well. Often I struggle with water spots on my stainless steel items do to our hard water, however surprisingly, this is super resistance to water spots, no buffing needed.I appreciate that it came with several replacement wires, which will probably serve us for years. So far we have only broken 1 wire, when my husband tried to slice hard Romano with it. Keep in mind this type of wire slicer is not suited for hard cheeses or sausages, if you're looking for a slicer for hard cheeses and meats a blade slicer will be better suited. So, the broken wire certainly wasn't an error on the slicer but a user error. The only complaint I have about the slicer is replacing the wire. I watched my husband and son mess with it and get frustrated trying to replace the blade for over 20 minutes. They found the provided directions weren't clear and were overly simplified.I did successfully replace the blade in a few minutes upon stepping in, however, I do believe replacement should be made a bit more clear for users of all levels and not just those familiar with this type of tool. And on a final note, I have a very active kitchen with chefs of all ages and abilities. I greatly appreciate the safety aspect. Not only does this make slicing uniform cheese much easier, it also makes it much safer for all abilities. I don't hesitate to let little hands or physically or visually impaired participate and slice away. Also, the base is large enough and secure enough to be operated with the use of one hand. Perhaps an overlooked aspect, this slicer is not only family friendly but also works as a nice aid to help those with limited mobility maintain independence as it's much easier and safer to operate opposed to using a knife blade.

Poorly designed
When I used the first time I saw the wire was not stable and moving from side to side. I turned it over and saw one of the Phillips head screws was loose. I thought, no problem, I’ll tighten it. When I tried I realized the threads were stripped. Upon closer inspection I realized the problem, the bracket that holds the swing arm is way to thin, so thin only about 1 1/2 threads are in the bracket. The bracket should be at least three times thicker. This should be a simple fix for the manufacturer but as it is designed it’s terrible.

cheap but works
cheap cheese slicer but it does work. Comes with extra slice wires. Not very sturdy but works for light usage.

Missing replacement wires - UPDATE
The cutter looks fine but there are no replacement wires. Update - I emailed customer support at Kenai and received a response in less than 24 hours. I am happy.

Makes slicing more uniform and far easier than handheld cheese slicers
It is quite difficult to slice a big block of cheddar cheese with traditional, handheld cheese slicers! This cheese slicer definitely makes the task easier! Well made, and I would guess its durability will be enhanced with the extra cutting wires that are taped to the bottom of the slicer!

Meh
I got this to cut soap. Minutes after opening it and just looking at it, not actually using it, the string came off. That thing was hard to get back on. I tried for 15 min and then my husband ended up having to do it. It also came with the handle at an angle, which doesn’t matter for cheese but it won’t cut straight for my soap. It easily cuts through the soap but as I said, at an angle. Disappointed.

Very pretty
I have one that constantly falls apart! (I think a tiny piece may have been missing that keeps the slicer wire attached). Not only is it sturdier, now I’ll be able to slice my cheese slices relatively even because of the lines that help adjust for the thickness! My other one doesn’t have that feature!

Did not like
I was very disappointed with this machine. It would probably be ok if you like very thick cheese (however it still crumbled the cheese), but i like mine thin. I found iy to be not worth the $.
