WOW!! What a reissue!!
This reissue/remaster really does have it all!! It's not just ONJ's 1981 album "Physical" either...it covers 1981 to 1984, by throwing in the exclusive songs from her "Greatest Hits Vol. 2" & the soundtrack to dud movie "Two Of A Kind", along with 12" & single mixes!! AND her duet with Bee Gee Barry Gibb from his solo album "Now Voyager"!! Talk about thorough!!On top of that, you have a DVD with 2 programs, the VHS/laserdisc-only "Physical" video album & a 1982 concert in Utah filled with hits & at her prime!! The packaging is stunning too, with all the eye-popping photography, with water & dolphins, respectful of the original LP's gatefold packaging, transformed into a beautiful 8-panel, 3-tray, digipack & thick 28-page booklet with more photography, full lyrics (in readable font too!! No squinting of the eyes here!!), detailed credits AND 1981-1984 discography (US/UK/Japan/Australia)!! I don't think anyone but Vinny Vero could have done a better-researched job here, no stone left unturned or detail left out!! Only 1 quibble is that there is no essay on the making of the album, just ONJ's brief remembrance & thank you's...it's fine....Now, the packaging & photos are killer...how are the music & visuals?? I have to admit, I never owned the album in 1981 (40 years ago, scary!!), I knew the hits, have the amazing & almost-complete 2CD "Gold", but until now, I never heard the album in full or had a VHS tape of the "Physical" video album, so hearing this had me excited...and it's really good, original pop!! No, ONJ didn't write her own music then as much as she does now...that would be by Aussie pop genius legend John Farrar...BUT she did write penultimate atmospheric ballad "The Promise (The Dolphin Song)", which blew me away with its epic quality. Apart from that, this 10-track masterpiece is very catchy 1981 new wave-flavoured pop with a mixture of rockers & ballads. Somehow, it doesn't sound dated, but still fresh & fun. The 3 singles are classics...I have to admit I almost got sick of "Physical", it was everywhere, but hearing it in the context of the album, the song got back its joie-de-vivre..."Make A Move On Me" is frisky and retains it's killer hooks & "Landslide" should have been a bigger US hit, like it was in the UK, has an interesting violin hook throughout...aside from those 3 songs, the other 7 are great songs with some shoulda-been singles...other faves are "Silvery Rain" with it's futuristic new wave feel, poppy "Love Make Me Strong", the atmospheric moving ballad "Recovery" & sinewy "Stranger's Touch"...it's all good/great...and of the added songs, the catchy "Heart Attack" was almost forgotten but was a big hit in 1982 & "Twist Of Fate" I have to admit I used to not like cuz it sounded catchy but anonymous, like any pop singer could have recorded it, but now, I sorta like it, due to ONJ's performance...and with the 2 lesser hits, "Tied Up" is REALLY interesting, with an unusual feel & subtle hidden hooks that pop out as the song winds through your brain, haven't heard that song in over 30 years, it was not included on "Gold"...and "Living In Desperate Times" is a really cool song & quite overlooked, deserved a better fate, happy it's here...Lastly, the video...that "Physical" video is both fun & beautiful, with a mixture of fun poppy energetic band clips (love "Make A Move On Me", who is that goofy keyboard guy?? Reminds me of Ron Mael from Sparks!! And I love ONJ's energy & flexibility!! The whole band is cool & love the 2 girl singers too)...story & concept clips ("The Promise" with the dolphins is stunning, what lovely creatures), & I love how 3 other songs are included..."Magic", "A Little More Love" & "Hopelessly Devoted To You" from Grease...and the concert from Utah is an amazing hits set circa 1982, a total peak...Overall, GREAT...content (music & visual), packaging & value for money!! 10 stars if I could!! Question is, what is next??

Olivia goodness, all in one place
I’ve owned only the “Physical” LP for 40 years, but this 40th anniversary seemed like a momentous occasion to finally get it on CD. I got it mostly for 2 reasons. First, CD #2, because I love that most of Olivia’s songs from this period are all put in the same place, including the remixes, “Two of a kind” songs and Barry Gibb duet I also have on vinyl. The second reason was the DVD. It was fun to revisit the video album with extra songs. It would have been nice to have the little spoken Olivia clips from her “Let’s get physical” TV special, but there are more than enough videos to keep us singing for a little while. Aside from the great price for 2 CDs and 1 DVD, the main reason I bought it was the concert. The “Physical” tour was very special to me because this was my first Olivia concert and it brought back such vivid and emotional memories. Frankly, I’d found a bootleg of the concert on EBay years ago, but I love being able to say I own a legit copy now. I’ve only listened to the whole thing once and at first listen, I didn’t pick the recordings apart for sound or remix quality: I was just so happy to have all this Olivia goodness in one place. Now I’m blind so couldn’t comment on the picture quality of the DVD, but going back to that moment in time was definitely worth the buy for me. Was it perfect? Maybe not, but it was certainly priceless for what it brought back to me. :D Sincerely, Sylvie, Qc Canada

It's Olivia Newton-John. It's Perfection.
I have been a fan since I was a kid, probably 11 years old when I heard my first Olivia Newton-John song, 'If Not For You'. I have been captivated ever since and have done my very best to purchase her music. It's Olivia Newton-John and that means PERFECTION. It's 1981 and I am out driving about, listening to the radio, and this song, Physical is playing. I remember it like yesterday and quite frankly, I was blown away. LOVED IT!I purchased the vinyl and cassette immediately and played them over and over and over again. They are quite worn out.The remastered Physical collection is a must have for any fan. Not only does this collection include the original music, but there are some added surprises: Heart Attack and Tied Up from Greatest Hits Volume 2, Twist of Fate, (Livin' in) Desperate Times, and Take a Chance from Two of a Kind, and a few live songs.Additionally the remastered Physical collection includes the video disc which is a must have for any fan.For me, I was so happy to relive the 1982 Physical North American Tour which I experienced at the Oakland Coliseum on October 1, 1982 -- best night ever.My only wish for this collection would have been for a digital download of the live concert or a live album -- that would have been the frosting on the cake. However, as previously noted, it's Olivia Newton-John. It's PERFECTION. Let's get Physical.

Terrible DVD Quality
This is so disappointing. The album is amazing as is the bonus CD content. The audio remastering also sounds very good to my ears. However, the DVD content is beyond poor, both in terms of video & audio quality. I transfered my old VHS copy of the Physical album to DVD some years ago & the quality is better than this. I was especially looking forward to the concert, as the only copy I have was on an old VHS tape recorded from the BBC broadcast way back. Again, the quality of this is poor to the point that it's distracting to watch.I would avoid this release & instead purchase a lossless version of the 2021 remastered album & check out the ONJ Video Gold compilation which is way better quality than this.

Disappointed
What a missed opportunity, sound quality throughout this reissue is very poor. The DVD is shocking , I've already got the DVD Gold which looks and sounds so much superior, my copy had a flickering white line at the top of the screen and the live part of the DVD sounded as if the production had been done in a toilet. Why no 5.1 mix ?? Why no Blu ray. Had to send my copy back as it skipped on 3 tracks . Don't think I would buy it again for £30 I would expect more.

TERRIBLE DVD QUALITY
This set looks fantastic. Everything has been thought about on a visual level apart from the quality of the DVD. Why spend so much time and effort building such a project if one of the main points of interest is so poorly executed? Did no one look at this before pressing it? Is ONJ aware how bad it looks? These are all questions that need answering. The first two CDs sound great and the additional tracks are also fantastic. Most of the lyrics, all the original images from the album release, lovely lovely lovely. DVD is just really poor. THE FANS EXPECT MORE! COME ON OLIVIA, GET THESE DISCS RECALLED AND REISSUED PROPERLY FINISHED AND WITHOUT THE KILLER SCREECH AT THE END OF BOTH DVD PROGRAMS. £30 IS A PREMIUM PRICE. THEREFORE THE PRODUCT SHOULD BE PRIMO!

A masterpiece from an icon. Physical, the song, was the most selling tune of the '80s in the US. It reshaped the pop of a generation. The deluxe edition includes all Olivia's releases from 1981- 1984. The album Physical was originally released in 1981 and a year later, Greatest Hits was released which included two previously unreleased tracks, a year later Olivia starred with Travolta in Two of a kind, and the original soundtrack was released including four songs she sang in that film, and finally, in 1984 Now Voyager album by Barry Gibb was released and included a duet with Olivia. The album includes Make a Move On Me (top 5 US) Landslide (top 20 UK), Heart Attack (top 5 US), Tied Up (top 40 US), Twist of Fate (top 5 US), (livin' in) desperate times (top 40 US) and also includes two duets; one with John Travolta (take a chance- top 5 US Adult Contemporary) and the other is with Barry Gibb from the Bee Gees (Face to Face- one can argue that this is the best duet of the 80s).In 1984 Olivia was offered to sing the song What about Me with Kenny Rogers and James Ingram and was also offered to sing All of You with Julio Iglesias. Olivia ended up singing face to face with Barry Gibb leaving the aforementioned songs to be sung by Kim Carnes and Diana Ross respectively. The deluxe album includes great writers and producers; John Farrar, David Foster, Barry Gibb; Steven Kippner, Tom Snow, Dolly Parton, and Olivia herself. The album includes great tracks; carried away was originally offered to Barbra Streisand as a song in the Guilty Album however it was turned down by her and this song found its way to Physical; Shaking you was covered by Elaine Paige in 1985 in her album Love Hurts; Silvery Rain a cover of Cliff Richard's hit; Love Make Me Strong, Fallin', Recovery and the Promise.I enjoyed the tracks, the remastering, and also the memories
