Q: So this isn’t the actual lunch box? It goes inside something else?

This isn’t the actual lunch box. This is only the insert for a bento box. These leak without the bento box it’s supposed to sit in.

Q: Could I use this as a replacement insert for my regular bentgo kids lunch box?

Yes that is absolutely what it is. I swap mine out so that one tray is in the dishwasher and the other is for prep. It is also nice because it has the lid (so you can throw it in the fridge with the lid on if you want to pre prep somethings the night before). I often do this when I'm making dinner.

Q: Can you buy just the lid?

Yes, you can buy it separately but it comes in 3 pcs.

Q: Is this as sturdy as the $30 box inserts? They don’t look as thick as the others from pictures???

Not sturdy. The bottom & top on 2 of our 3 have already broken. The company is difficult to work with to return/refund.
