Works most of the time. Frequently crashes
So this product works really well (when it does). I have an 2017 Audi eTron and it connected without issue. My connection experience was better after I updated the Firmware. The only real issue I have is that it will still often crash using for a while. The worst seems to be with Google Maps for an extended period of time - by that I mean 30min -1hr. Some days it’s fine and sometimes it will crash the connection. When using Gmaps a crash could mean the the HUD stops showing directions. I had this happen going somewhere new but thankfully my phone was mounted so it reverted back to the phone and I could follow it there, but it was embarrassing when I was driving and it stopped :(Otherwise as a day to day drive it works really well! Just be prepared to fiddle with it on some days.

It’ll Drive You Nuts, But Looks Fantastic While Doing So
I’m sure the Tech Support is great but I did not need it. This box was super easy to install. The thing I wasn’t prepared for was the solid 3 second delay from when you press a button on the car’s screen until your choice is registered by your phone- or that same delay before the track you chose begins to play. There will also be completely random, unexpected and unwelcome quick dropouts in the sound as it plays. This happens once or twice approximately every 60 to 180 seconds. I believe the word I would choose to best describe that is maddening.

Works so far.
Tried on my 2018 GMC Sierra Denali 1500. This had faster delivery than I expected. I got it about 4 days early. It does work. The firmware was already updated prior to opening. It shuts off when it’s supposed to and connects very quickly so far. I have it plugged in, under the center console and still seems to connect good. I’m not sure how it will respond during hot weather but I’d assume that if it’s put somewhere hidden, it probably will be fine. It came with a short cord thankfully. It’s maybe 2-3 inches long. So no more long cord. If it’s to short, the device has usb to USB ports and I think it’s a micro usb to USB port. This was actually a great design. Allowing for two ports, will make it easier to find replacement cords and however long you want it to be.

This "3.0" unit is exactly the same as the "2.0" I purchased a year ago.
Purchased this "new" Carlinkit 3.0 unit thinking it was any better than the 2.0 I got more than a year ago. THEY'RE EXACTLY THE SAME THING.- Same packaging- Same UPC code- Same model number (printed on the boxes AND on the units themselves)I have not seen any difference in functionality either. The company that sells these has multiple listings for essentially the same items... Listing them with higher prices for the models that supposedly are for luxury cars. Kind of scammy if you ask me.Rebadging something with a new version number when it's the exact same thing that was sold a year ago is also pretty scammy.I didn't rate "Touch Screen", "Tech Support", or "Sound Quality" because those are functionalities of your car's stereo, not the Carlinkit.

Worked out of the box
I have it connected in 2018 Honda CRV. It connected out of the box, with no need for the firmware update, or any troubleshooting. I do not see blue outliers around icons that other are describing, no lag in connecting, launching and running apps. I am using iPhone 12 (itself mounted on a MagSafe-compatible charger from ESR, also on Amazon). The device itself is identified as VW-ECFA under Bluetooth, which confirms that it is not model-specific. When connected, the phone created a second CarPlay profile, so that there are two- one for wired and another for wireless. I cannot attest to the durability as of yet, but the initial connecting and running experience is as good as wired.
