Q: Are the magnifying lenses universial

yes the lenses are but not all helmet like them.

Q: One side is flat one is rounded for both eyes. Which side is front ?

if you mount rounded side towards the helmet from inside the mounting tabs will place strain on the "glass" and possibly break it .. common sense tells you to place flat part toward helmet "inside" this magnifier glass is mounted inside not outside. if you have less then 20/20 vision and weld these things are as big of an improvement as when welders went from flip down helmets to auto darkening helmets.

Q: Does this lens work in a chicago electric welding helmet no. 46092?

If your helmet does not have the tabs to hold this in you can simply use a hot glue gun to hold lens in place. My helmet has the tabs but after 1 close call where lens fell out and almost shattered I used hot glue gun to make sure it would never happen again. these magnifying lens are as much of an improvement as switching to an auto darkening helmet was. Must have for everyone
