Review: One of The Best On The Market - I have had this wheel for a couple months now. A little bit longer. It is still good. Spins very nicely. Pros: Wheel is very safe, Almost perfect size for a Syrian hamster if not a little big for one, Spins very nicely even without using cooking oil on the rod where it spins, and it is also very quiet. ( Which is a bit of a shame because I like the noise to fall asleep to and I also just like hearing my hamster run in it )... Last but not least my hamster loves this wheel. Cons: The height of the wheel to the wheel base is a bit short so When setting it up you have to dig the bedding out from underneath the wheel to get it to spin easier which also makes the stability of the wheel worse which we will get into next. Next the stability of the wheel is fine for the most part. If you are putting it ontop of bedding like me then it may be angled differently depending on how flat youve got your bedding. I would always be wary of it toppling over. But on flat ground it is pretty stable and I wouldnt worry about it toppling over. I would still try to wiegh the base down with some heavier bedding just in case. Personally for me I use string and tie it to my wire cage which does alleviate the bottom of the wheel hitting the bedding as much. I never had a problem with it toppling over. Cleaning the cage can be a little bit of a pain because of them using that little metal clip on the rod. You have to get a needle nose pliers or something similar to take that clip off to really clean the wheel. Luckily though its pretty basic on how the things go together just make sure not to lose the tiny metal clip and the plastic pieces which attach the running base together. Overall: This is one of the best wheels that you can get for a Syrian hamster, My hamster loves it, It is a very safe wheel for them as well, It is silent ( to silent for me ), It is hard to find other variations or colors for this wheel off of desertcart, Hard to take it apart without a needle nose pliers for cleaning, and can be difficult to secure to your cage depending on what cage you have. I found that my female syrian could get it moving and bouncing a little when she was REALLY running. I mounted it to a heavy round piece of wood so it could be weighted down and it never made noise. I had her in the bedroom with me for 2 years and it was silent, until she stored her food and half her bedding in it and then tried to run all night. **Q: How do you clean it?** A: You have to remove the hair pin at the front, separate the wheel from the metal stand, and pull the whole thing apart. The front, back, and middle are all separate pieces. I usually clean the middle green part every couple days and wipe the other parts down. The hair pin needs pliers to get off the first time, but it gets easier after that. **Q: Can it attach to a wire cage?** A: yes it can be attached with zip-ties from the metal base **Q: Lost one of the plastic washers with the round bump on it. Great buy. *by E***W on October 24, 2025* Our hammy loves it! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My Gerbil’s Favorite *by M***E on May 19, 2019* In a sticker right on the back it says that this wheel is not recommended for gerbils because they are chewers, and my boys ARE big chewers, but after a month with this wheel they have not chewed it at all! So gerbil owners breathe a sigh of relief! One of my boys LOVES this wheel and will gladly spend 40+ minutes running on it every day even after a long time in the out-of-cage playpen. The other could care less, goes on a 30 second sprint and then leaves it alone for a week. I think how your pet will enjoy this wheel all comes down to personality. It is fairly quiet, but you would definitely hear it if it was in your room at night. My gerbils’ cage is in our basement directly below our room and I never hear the wheel unless I am in the basement with them. It can handle very fast runners, and I know that it is safe on their necks and tails. Overall a great win! It doesn’t come apart though, so if one had a hedgehog or other animal that poops when they run, it would be difficult to clean.
