Nice story
I am giving 4 stars for the story had originally read it as one of the daughters library books from school and she loved it soo much she wanted her own. 2 and a half stars for condition tho... said new but arrived like it had been sitting in the back of an abandoned goodwill for 4 years and blown off and shipped. Dusty creasy fabric cover binding flaking off ended up returning and got a new one elsewhere.

Great pictures of shoes, poor message in story
Mixed feelings. My granddaughter is obsessed with anyone's shoes - so her focus is on the shoes, not the story. I wish there were more shoes. The self decorated shoes at the end are great to show. Now, the story doesn't really fit. First, at what age do girls plan parties and go shopping alone for shoes? Not in my granddaughter's future for many many years. We will ignore the part where the girls make the salesman bring tons of shoes until he's ragged and there's a pile on the floor. By the time she understands that, I'm sure the book will no longer be of interest. The page where they are decorating shoes on the floor - it's hard to figure out what they are doing. There are no shoes in it. She will skip that part - and the page where they are dressed up. She'll look at the page where they have their decorated shoes. I don't know if whe will understand they decorated the shoes them selves. So it's a toss up. I was looking for pictures of shoes - and they are right here - with Shoe La La as a fun word - so ignoring the rest, I'll say 4.

So Sweet-La-La!
I checked out the preview and thought to myself, this would be a great book for our book club. I ordered it and when I received it, I was impressed. It is definitely a girly-girl book. It is a board book, and the front cover has the four little girls in dress-up clothes. Their dresses are all covered with glitter....real glitter! It's not the kind of glitter that rubs off everywhere, but shiny, sparkly glitter. The book is pretty pink with girly print all the way through. I do wish, however, that the book was much bigger. It's about 6x5. It's a great size for reading to one or two little girls, but the pictures would have a better view for reading to a group of girls. The book is rhymes all the way through and the pictures are simply adorable. In the end, the girls decide to design their own shoes with the shoes they already have instead of choosing a pair from the shoe store. Great message! This book shoes what little girls do and imagine when they are "little". Add it to your library!

Darling book with a great lesson and best of all it’s about SHOES!!
This book is absolutely adorable. My 18-month-old baby is obsessed with shoes so a friend of ours shared this title with us at a play date. I wanted my own. When I found out that amazon had it I was thrilled...low and behold they even had a board book version which is so much better for my baby’s grabby little hands. This book is precious. I love the colorful little illustrations as well as the storyline where (spoiler alert) the little girls learn that they don’t necessarily have to buy things to have them be special too. I love it. So do my three shoe obsessed daughters ages 8, 5, and 1.5 which means my older one reads it to her little sisters happily.

Girlie not vapid.
SO cute. It is nice to have a "girlie" board book with a good message that isn't all princess princess princess. I get really torn about "girlie" things. On the one hand, being feminine is a glorious thing, beauty is to be celebrated and enjoyed. On the other hand, i would never want any of my girls to be reduced to simply being cherished for beauty, cuteness, or girlieness. So i find this book to be an excellent happy medium. I truly wish there were more books out there like this one. I have a massive collection of truck books (which my girl loves just fine!) but can never find other topics that are a bit more feminine (without being superficial). This one hits the mark!

An instant favorite
My toddler loves shoes, and when I saw this book, I knew she'd love it. I was right... and what made this book even more fun for her was that one of the four friends in the book shares her name: Kaitlyn (the two names are even spelled the same). My Kaitlyn gets such a kick out of this, and so do I.Shoe-la-la is plain fun to read. I love the illustrations and the fact that this book is really girly. I like the rhyming and the amount of words per page is just right. My favorite thing about Shoe-la-la is the fact that the little girls end up making their own party shoes. Great moral to the story, and great fun overall!

Teaches making choices
The artists rendition of the story is quite wonderful because back in the 60's shoe stores in Canada were special events, the only other way to buy shoes was through the Sears Catalogue. I also like that the girls didnt buy any shoes!! They came up with a plan of there own to create something they loved. I am friends with the oldest shoe salesman in Wasago, Ontario, Canada He just turned 91years young, and sports a wonderful moustache like in the artists work. Condition of used book was good, delivery time good.
