Do not dilute
Do not dilute the solution. That's what I did and what would take 5 mins to etch Damascus steel took way longer. Wish I read the label before doing anything. It does work but just takes longer

It works really good for knives..
I mix this 160z FC solution to 36oz of distilled water for knife etching in a 1/2 gallon glass wide mouth mason jar with a plastic lid and it works good. To see the best results leave it in for about 10 minutes and then rinse and use a wet sponge to scrub the blade. This will reveal just how dark your blade is. If you want it darker put it back in and repeat. This process will dull your blade so be ready to sharping when done or coat that part with fingernail polish. The picture is of 2 knives, one etched and the other in original condition. The whole process took less than 30 minutes. I suggest you wear gloves and safety glasses just in case and store this stuff in a manner that will prevent the container from breaking and keep some baking soda on hand for any spills to neutralize the acid. Be very careful that your metal parts do not drop in the jar. This could shatter the jar and leave you with a serious mess to clean up. If you get it on your skin dont freak out, it will take it a few minutes to do anything and if you rinse your skin with water asap it will not burn you. Keep this stuff away from pets that might ingest it. If they get enough your pet will have to be put down because the acid will destroy their GI tract and it will be a very painful death otherwise. On that cheerful note good luck and happy etching. :)

I assume it works? Update
I tried this one time so-far because I hear it is supposed to etch stainless steel…. It did absolutely nothing to the metal I used however I can’t hold it against the product because it’s possible there was a clear coating or something on the steel water bottle I tried it on. I have seen it work in videos and when I have a change to try it on a stainless Joan that I know for sure has no coating I can update. I feel like it will work but that what I used it on was wrong because it’s not as shiny as normal stainless even tho it was labeled as stainless. So I had a chance to try this on my dogs water bowl that is stainless and it coated…. Totally works…. I used paper towel to apply it even tho I know cotton balls is the normal thing, I’m a guy and don’t stock those but I will grab some now that I know this stuff works! Definitely cool stuff to make permanent markings that won’t come off in the wash or anything like that… when I run out I will definitely order more.
